WHAT I WORE : FLOWERED DRESS, BOOTS AND TOTE November 19, 2015 by budgetstyleYou might see
some similarities between what I wore here and my last outfit share. And no, your
eyes are not playing tricks on you. That’s because I’m completely obsessed with this denim jacket– and I’ll
find a reason to wear boots just about any day in the fall. The jacket is so soft and feels like your favorite worn-in jacket that you’ve had for years. And even though I’ve only had this one for a few months, it’s very quickly become my favorite outer layer. WHAT I WORE – FLOWERED DRESS, BOOTS AND TOTE My Fynn & Rose dresswas a lucky
thrifted treasure. After a brief search online, I found out it was originally sold at Nordstrom. It’s also a brand that I’ve seen at Anthropologie, so I’m pretty confident that I snagged an incredibly awesome deal. I only paid $6 for this one. Can’t beat that! I’m in love with the color combo on this flowered dress. I also added a pair of my favorite Hue Ultra Wide Waistband leggings (already in my closet – _and even on sale plus free shipping rightnow !_) for
warmth, since there’s finally a chill in the air here. My trusty brown bootshave been
with me for years and years. They’re easily the best investment I’ve made in footwear, aside from my running shoes. And I’ve absolutely worn them enough to recoup my investment. I think my cost per wear at this point might be in the pennies. Yes, I wear them ALL. THE. TIME. They’re the most comfortable and supportive boots I’ve ever tried on, much less owned. And while these specific boots are no longer available, I know that without a doubt, I’ll be investing in the same brand when it comes to the (very sad) day to replace them. The brown tote is the Transport tote, a birthday
gift from last year. I absolutely love the ease and versatility of it. It’s a classic piece that I know I’ll have and reach for often for many years. If you’re interested in adding this tote to your wish list, I’d suggest picking up a few inexpensive zippered pouches to tuck inside, too. These will come in handy for keeping things organized and easily accessible in such a good-sized space. Finally, the coral scarf is another favorite I’ve had for at least a year or two. I love Charming Charlie for its trendy, inexpensive accessories, but sometimes you also stumble into one or two classics like this one that last through several seasons. That’s a total win-win!——–

CAR CHRISTMAS PILLOW – THE LOOK FOR LESS November 17, 2015 by budgetstyle I was taking a look at Christmas pillows recently and fell in love with this Car Embroidered Lumbar Pillow Cover from Pottery Barn. This pillow cover is made of pure cotton and has an envelope enclosure. It measures 16″ x 26″ and is just the sweetest winter scene. But as much as I love this pillow, I don’t really love the price – $59.50 for the pillow cover. Pillow insert sold separately. Right now you’ll get FREE shipping. Every little bit helps, I guess, right? So I set out to find a few options that are less expensive – and that could serve as a satisfactory substitute for my newfound affinity for snowy station wagons sitting on my sofa. (Try saying _that_ three times fast!) Here’s what I found! CHRISTMAS PILLOWS – THE LOOK FOR LESS This VERSION OF THE CAR CHRISTMAS PILLOWis _much_ less
expensive the original Pottery Barn version (only $19.99) – and it even comes with a bonus reindeer driver! Ha! This pillow incorporates both appliqué and embroidery, so it’s a bit of a different look from the fully embroidered pillow above. I’m willing to embrace its differences, though, including the biggest difference – its price! This pillow measures 12″ x 18″, so a bit smaller than the Pottery Barn example, but still a decent size. I think THIS CAR CHRISTMAS PILLOWdefinitely
matches the original Pottery Barn version in terms of its fabric makeup, while still keeping the cost quite low – only $16.99 on sale. Low enough to invest in a couple of cars, in fact…for your sofa cushion, anyway. This pillow measures 10″ x 18″ and is ready to ship or to pick up at your local store. If you don’t mind trading the rectangular lumbar pillow for a square toss pillow, then this version of the CAR CHRISTMAS PILLOWis another
pretty good match to the Pottery Barn version above – and this one is only $14.99 right now (on sale). It measures 18″ x 18″ square. WHICH CAR CHRISTMAS PILLOW STICKS OUT TO YOU AS YOUR FAVORITE? Filed Under: For Your HomeTagged With: car

STITCH FIX NOVEMBER 2015 – REVIEW November 13, 2015 by budgetstyle Today I’m sharing my Stitch Fix November 2015 box, the online personal stylist service. For a more detailed explanation of how Stitch Fix works, check the bottom of this post! STITCH FIX – NOVEMBER 2015 REVIEW (FIX #5) I’ve been really happy with my Stitch Fix experience so far. While I seem to get a new Stitch Fix stylist every time, I think they each have paid close attention to my Pinterest board and to myspecific requests.
This month I asked for fall pieces that could easily be layered. I also requested jewel tones (specifically, burgundy and teal), and I made one very specific request, which must not have been available. Shareese was my stylist this month, and she did a great job with incorporating both of those requests into my box this month. She nailed the jewel tones (hello, burgundy!) and gave me a few pieces that I could easily layer – with each other and with pieces that were already in my closet. Thanks, Shareese!! HERE’S WHAT ARRIVED IN MY NOVEMBER STITCH FIX BOX: * Market & Spruce Fierro Elbow Patch Crew Neck Sweater * Blank NYC Lettie Faux Leather and Knit Drape Jacket * Look by M Alzora Zig Zag Infinity Scarf * Kut from the Kloth Danny Knit Pant * Loveappella Tiffina Knit Top 1. MARKET & SPRUCE FIERRO ELBOW PATCH CREW NECK SWEATER I have several elbow patch tops pinned to my Stitch Fix Pinterest board, so I was happy to see this elbow patch sweater included. It was a nice shade of navy and I liked the contrast of the bright elbow patches. When I tried it on, though, it was just a little clingy around my midsection. Because of that, it wouldn’t be one that I’d reach for regularly, despite how much I love the look. Still love the look of this one, just not on me. VERDICT: RETURNED. 2. BLANK NYC LETTIE FAUX LEATHER AND KNIT DRAPE JACKET When I took this faux leather and knit jacket out of the box, I wasn’t sure how it would look on. I did have something very similar pinned, so I was happy my stylist had paid attention to my Pinterest board. But i was a little afraid of it being too clingy, especially whenzipped up.
I was pleasantly surprised that I actually loved the fit, and the look. It was just edgy enough for me and would be such a cool and unique addition to my cool-weather wardrobe. In the end, though, I just couldn’t get past the cleaning instructions — or the lack of cleaning instructions. It calls for spot cleaning and specifically advises against dry cleaning or machine washing. Spot clean only on something that’s partially knit isn’t something I could wrap my head around. Too bad, because I would’ve kept it in a heartbeat otherwise. Regrettably, I had to send back. (Even as I write this, I’m wishing it were hanging in my closet right now!) VERDICT: RETURNED 3. LOOK BY M ALZORA ZIG ZAG INFINITY SCARF Tribal prints seem to be trending this season, so I was happy to see this tribal print infinity scarf included in my November Stitch Fix. The color combo (burgundy, navy and cream) was spot-on and will be very versatile. It’s so soft, and was the perfect amount of material. In fact, I love it so much that I didn’t even want to take it off after trying it on. I wore it the rest of the day! VERDICT: KEPT. 4. KUT FROM THE KLOTH DANNY KNIT PANT I don’t have any colored leggings…until now. These Kut from the Kloth knit pants were a perfect fit and look great tucked into boots. They also have a nice heft to them, so that they can easily be used into winter. The burgundy color hit on the jewel tones I had requested for this November Stitch Fix. I think the burgundy will work with quite a few items that I already have in my closet – and they couldn’t look better partnered with the Alzora zig zag scarf in this box. Above I paired them with a basic long-sleeve tee and my favorite denim jacket (left) and then tried them with a navy sweater I already own (right). VERDICT: KEPT. 5. LOVEAPPELLA TIFFINA KNIT TOP I thought this Loveappella gray knit top would be a keeper right out of the box. It’s the perfect shade of gray, it has a great v-neck opening, it’s a nice length, and the detail on the sleeve makes it just unique enough. And can we talk for a minute about how soft it is? This felt like climbing into your favorite PJs, but actually looking quite pulled together. This was a victim of my self-imposed limited budget. On its own or as a layering piece, this was a winner. And I’m pretty sure I would’ve kept it, if those pants hadn’t fit like they did. VERDICT: RETURNED, SADLY.———-
My next Stitch Fix box is already scheduled, and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next! HOW DOES STITCH FIX WORK? Stitch Fix is a subscription box service, specializing in clothes and accessories. For a $20 service fee, you’re assigned a personal stylist who will choose five pieces of clothing and/or accessories for you, based on a pretty extensive questionnaire about your sizing and style preferences. When your box arrives, you have three business days to decide what you’dlike to keep.
If you keep all five items, you get a 25% discount. Some people have mentioned that even if you only love four of the pieces, it sometimes makes sense to keep all five and take advantage of that extradiscount.
If you keep at least one item, your $20 service fee will be applied to your order and taken off your total at checkout. Returning unwanted items is super simple. Within three business days, just pack up those items in the postage-paid envelope provided with your box and drop off at any USPS mailbox. _*The links in this post are my personal referral link. If you decide you like Stitch Fix enough to try it and you use one of those links to sign up, I’d be so grateful! It would give me a little bit of credit toward my nextFix._
