MINIMUM STANDARDS
This minimum standard only applies to renters who move into new properties from 29 March 2023. By 29 March 2023, any property offered for rent must have all power outlets and lighting circuits connected to a circuit breaker and a residual current EVICTION - TENANTS VICTORIA - TENANTS VICTORIA Give you a valid notice to vacate. Apply to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) for a possession order. If VCAT made a possession order, purchase a warrant of possession from VCAT. Give the warrant of possession to the police, which the police will use to evict you. The rental provider cannot have you evicted until they haveWHILE YOU RENT
After this, the renter is entitled to $30 or a half day’s rent, whichever is greater, in compensation for each sales inspection. This means if the rent is less than $1,820 a month the renter would receive $30, but otherwise would receive an amount equivalent to half aday’s rent.

Breaking a lease on the grounds of hardship or by giving up possession can be costly. The landlord can claim compensation for any reasonable costs they have to pay as a result of you breaking the lease. The costs you could be liable for include: a reletting fee (usually one ortwo weeks’ rent).
THE TRIBUNAL (VCAT)
The tribunal (VCAT) The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (Residential Tenancies List) hears disputes between landlords and tenants. It is not a court, but it is able to make decisions that can be legally enforced. It is intended to be informal and cheap, and to resolve disputes quickly and fairly. BONDS - TENANTS VICTORIA A bond is money you may be asked to pay at the start of your tenancy. It is a security in case there is a dispute at the end of your tenancy over things like damage, cleaning or unpaid rent.
