This old CRT monitor and video camera have been in a non-stop feedback loop since 2011. It’s colors and patterns very based on its mood. Today it feels.optimistic. PORTAURORA | STICKY CO. As travelers enter Portaurora, it responds to their movement with a wash of colors in the space above them, creating an interactive experience reminiscent of the northern lights. The traveler's presence is essential to the experience, and changes the artwork dynamicallywith every passage.

Combine Juanjo Arques’s groundbreaking choreography, architect Marc Koehler’s fascination with how people move through spaces, and Sticky’s technical and creative imagination. What did we make? A visionary system that traces dancers’ movements in real time and then projects dynamically generated graphics based on the intricatemotion patterns.
STICKY SIGNAGE
If you’ve walked past the studio lately, you probably couldn’t help but notice our brand new interactive signage. When people walk by the front window, their movement triggers the opening of six sets of curtains to reveal “STICKY,” spelled out in beautiful, custom ceramic letters, courtesy of our neighbors Mudshark Studios.LIGHT CHIMES
Our whimsical installation (a collaboration with the Portland band little hexes) mashes up light and sound, science and community with 19 suspended interactive nodes. The 18-foot-wide matrix responds to movement with a vibrant and ever changing harmonic experience. Light Chimes has delighted attendees at the Portland Winter Light Festival and the Pickathon music festival. ALL IT TOOK WAS A CAMERA AND A HASHTAG Place: Framing the Oregon Landscape brought together an impressive collection of artists to capture and interpret the landscape of Oregon through photography. In addition, the public was invited to be a part of the exhibit by contributing their own Instagram photos of the region’s dramatic landscapes using the hashtag #ohsplace. Sticky created two touchscreen displays for the exhibit space OREGON BEER AT OHS: BEHIND THE SCENES Photographing beer is no easy task, but it can be a lot of fun! Our task was to film a pint glass filling and emptying in a seamless loop as well as grab stills for our “Beer Styles” interactive. Our solution was to drill a hole in the bottom of a glass and insert a tube to drain the beer. Sticky worked with the Portland Timbers to create the first official Major League Soccer team-branded emoji sticker app. Celebrating the club’s iconic imagery, the app has more than 60 custom icons that fans can mix with regular emojis and text to create messages that express their gleeful—and sometimes heated—enthusiasm. When the University of Washington built the Foster School of Business, they commissioned Sticky to realize the building’s centerpiece artwork, the Foster Exchange. Communication design Professor Karen Cheng and Assistant Professor Kristine Matthews envisioned a 60-foot column that would showcase scrolling messages posted by students and faculty based on the theme “Business Is”XONE | STICKY CO.

Alex and Amanda discovered the wonders of illustrating in virtual reality! It’s quite an experience for accomplished artists and we couldn’t wait to try our 2D hand in a 3D environment. STICKY, BIKE COMMUTE CONQUERORS Each September, employees from workplaces across Oregon compete by riding bikes to work, helping to reduce pollution and fuel usage while getting a little extra exercise. The 2013 Bike Commute Challenge honored Sticky when we tied for first place in the small business category. Design Week Portland invited Sticky to create a temporary installation celebrating Lawrence Halprin, designer of the internationally acclaimed Portland Plazas. Describing his vision for the series of parks as “a choreographed sequence of open spaces,” Halprin was influenced by his wife, Anna, a passionate choreographer and dancer. Design Week Portland invited Sticky to create a temporary installation celebrating Lawrence Halprin, designer of the internationally acclaimed Portland Plazas. Describing his vision for the series of parks as “a choreographed sequence of open spaces,” Halprin was influenced by his wife, Anna, a passionate choreographer and dancer. ALL IT TOOK WAS A CAMERA AND A HASHTAG Place: Framing the Oregon Landscape brought together an impressive collection of artists to capture and interpret the landscape of Oregon through photography. In addition, the public was invited to be a part of the exhibit by contributing their own Instagram photos of the region’s dramatic landscapes using the hashtag #ohsplace. Sticky created two touchscreen displays for the exhibit spaceOREGON BEER
For “Barley, Barrels, Bottles, & Brews: 200 Years of Oregon Beer,” Sticky tapped two centuries of hoppy history, brewing up multimedia elements to appeal to the whole family.OREGON VOICES
For the OHS permanent exhibit Oregon Voices, we engineered six video players using an inexpensive Raspberry Pi network. To minimize noise, only one video plays at any given time, triggering the next in sequence upon completion. The video players also respond to a custom remote control that allows museum docents to mute or select specific videos. Additionally, we developed a set of three simple OREGON BEER AT OHS: BEHIND THE SCENES Photographing beer is no easy task, but it can be a lot of fun! Our task was to film a pint glass filling and emptying in a seamless loop as well as grab stills for our “Beer Styles” interactive. Our solution was to drill a hole in the bottom of a glass and insert a tube to drain the beer. The video is featured in the entrance of the new 200 Years of Oregon Beer! exhibit at the Oregon REVISITING JFK'S LEGACY WITH OREGON HISTORICAL SOCIETY We partnered with our friends at exhibit-design firm Renate to help celebrate the life, legacy, and centennial birthday of America’s 35th President in the recent Oregon Historical Society exhibit High Hopes: The Journey of John F. Kennedy. To provide insight into the struggles John F. Kennedy faced during his presidency, Sticky designed and programmed an interactive iPad game that provides CYRKAM AIRTÖS ONLINE GAME A free office based flash game where you catch a scrunched up piece of paper and try to fling it in the bin. A visionary system that traces dancers’ movements in real time and then projects dynamically generated graphics based on the intricatemotion patterns.
