NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS Keep Up With State College Local COVID-19 Updates View All the Updates Volunteer Opportunity: East Fairmount Park Tree Planting EAST FAIRMOUNT PARK TREE PLANTING The Borough of State College is seeking volunteers to assist with the planting of burlap trees and shrubs as a part of the East Fairmount Park Improvements Project. The Borough and the Highland Civic Association partnered to revitalize E. Fairmount Park with new playsets, paths, benches, a pavilion, native trees, shrubs, and perennials selected to support pollinators. This area is identified in Census Tract 120, which e-map identifies as an environmental justice area, where 88.3% of the population meets low to moderate-income guidelines. The Borough’s Sustainability Plan, Neighborhood Plan, and Capital Improvement Plan all identify the need for this revitalization project. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING THIS VOLUNTEEROPPORTUNITY.

Event Announcement: Celebrate Pride 2021 in State College STATE COLLEGE, PA – State College Pa – The State College community will come together on Saturday, June 12, to celebrate Pride Month and the LGBTQA+ community. This event is being planned by the Borough of State College including members of the Borough’s LGBTQ Advisory Committee and the Centre LGBTQA Support Network. The event will start at 4 p.m. with a “Pride Ride” car caravan where participants will decorate their vehicles and drive through the community (route included below) to celebrate State College’s diversity. The organizers are still accepting applicants to participate in the event, but space is limited. Each vehicle will need to fill out its own registration form. At the end of the form, you will be prompted to pay a $25 registration fee via PayPal. This fee is non-refundable and will benefit the Centre LGBTQA Support Network. Prizes will be given to the groups with the best-decorated cars. If you are not interested in registering a vehicle, please join along the route to cheer them on. You can register at www.statecollegepride.com.
After the Pride Ride, there will be an after-party in the Sidney Friedman Parklet (241 South Fraser Street) with a performance by Anchor & Arrow. The Parklet will feature a photobooth/art installation by recent Penn State College of Arts and Architecture student, LeoWang.

CATA Announces Revised List of Proposed Fall 2021 Service Changes and CATARIDE Fare Increase, Will Host Public Hearing Tuesday, June 8 The Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) has announced a revised list of proposed Fall 2021 service changes, as well as a proposed fare increase for CATARIDE service, which can be viewed onthe CATA website.
The proposed changes would tentatively go into effect on Saturday,August 21, 2021.
Public comment may be provided for any of the proposed changes to service by submitting them directly to the CATA website.
