Following the 1947 parade, Boston Mayor James Michael Curley himself granted authority to organize and conduct the St. Patrick’s Day-Evacuation Day Parade to the petitioner, South Boston Allied War Veterans Council (SBAWVC), an unincorporated association of individuals elected from various South Boston veterans groups. A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMANDER A Message From the Commander. One of my top priorities for the SBAWVC is that our priorities extend beyond the parade and that we look for other opportunities to benefit the community, especially with the goal of supporting veterans. Knowing this, SBAWVC member Kevin Conroy suggested that the council take up the initiative of refurbishing the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS The South Boston St. Patrick’s Day / Evacuation Day Parade offers a number of opportunities to showcase its sponsors, from leveraging its high-traffic web-site and social media accounts, to its partnership with New England Cable News where the parade is broadcast, as well a parade-day presence that would showcase your business to the 1 million or so spectators that attend the parade. Broadway Station marks the start of the parade. Follow West Broadway to Perkins Square and continue onto East Broadway. Follow East Broadway to P Street. Turn right onto P Street and follow it to East Fourth Street. Turn right on East Fourth Street and follow it to K Street. Turn left on K Street and follow it until East Fifth Street. Turn right on East Fifth Street until G Street. Turn left on G Street and follow it past the front entrance to Excel High School until the 2nd right onto Thomas Park. Then follow it to Telegraph Street.
