ABOUT THE SOUTH BAY
The South Bay contains fifteen cities plus portions of the City of Los Angeles and unincorporated portions of the County of Los Angeles. The area is bounded by the Pacific Ocean on the south and west and generally by the City of Los Angeles on the north and east. SOUTH BAY FIBER NETWORK South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) worked with the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB) to develop a regional broadband, fiber-optic network. Through funding from the SBWIB, fiber-optic master plan was prepared by Magellan Associates to address the feasibility of a regional broadband network that would connect to at least one city facility in each of the South Bay citiesGIS WORKING GROUP
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Working Group membership comes from the staff of SBCCOG member cities. Group members work to advance the use of technology in city operations through education and information sharing as well as coordinating joint projects. SBCCOG EV INITIATIVES The SBCCOG has demonstrated Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs) in their Local Use Vehicle (LUV) program with about 100 drivers and found that NEVs can provide on an average 26% of the total commuter trips and 23 to 33% emission reductions. As a next step, the SBCCOG began to explore electric vehicles that could operate for longer ranges with SOUTH BAY CITIES COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS The South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) is proud to announce it has received a 2020 Crown Communities Award for its.
