Funding of up to £10,000 is available for projects that are looking to improve, restore or create habitat within our supply area . Projects should also have a community benefit. WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT PLAN At least every five years we prepare a Water Resources Management Plan, which sets out in detail how we plan to achieve these outcomes over the next 25 years. In particular we need to ensure we are able to maintain a surplus of supply, known as headroom, over the expecteddemand for water.
BLITHFIELD RESERVOIR Blithfield Reservoir is a beautiful 790-acre lake set in the rolling hills of Blithe Valley. The reservoir was created by building a dam across the nearby River Blithe, channelling water into the valley alongside it. The reservoir took 500 men more than six years to complete and was officially opened by the Queen Mother in October1953.
CHELMARSH RESERVOIR
The 100-acre Chelmarsh Reservoir is set in the rolling Shropshire countryside between Bridgnorth and Bewdley, near to the village of Highley. It was built in 1963 to store water pumped from the nearby River Severn. The water is sent via the well-known ‘blue pipe’ bridge over the River Severn to be treated at Hampton Loade TreatmentWorks
