The activity was created by See Me and Chris McCullough Young, inspired by his walk around the UK to tackle mental health stigma. One of the main focuses of Walk a Mile is healthand

Young people say they are often not taken seriously by adults when it comes to mental health and lots of us feel uncomfortable to speak out about our worries for fear of the consequences. And that is where stigma starts. Sometimes, it's hard to understand what's going on in our head or be able to explain how weare

Tackling stigma and discrimination is key to ensuring people can get the right help and support at the right time when they struggle with their mental health. Stigma and discrimination within health and social care settings can have an immediate negative impact on a person’s access to and experience of services, and inSEE ME | ANXIETY
Anxiety can make you feel on edge, unable to concentrate, fearful and irritable. Many people often experience physical symptoms, including an irregular heartbeat, sweating and shortness of breath. Symptoms can also cause people to withdraw from social contact (seeing your family and friends) to avoid feelings of worry and dread. DifficultySEE ME | DEPRESSION
Prenatal Depression – depression that occurs during pregnancy. This is sometimes also called antenatal depression. Lack of energy and concentration. Feeling low, sad. Lack of feelings. Self-harm is commonly considered a physical response to a type of emotional pain. It can be used as a method to cope with difficult feelings, distressing situations or overwhelming experiences. Suicide is the act of intentionally taking your own life. People who are experiencing suicidal thoughts are often so overwhelmed with negative feelings that it seems like they have no option but to end their life. Often there is no one main reason which leads someone to take their own life, but rather it can be the result of a number of SEE ME | BIPOLAR DISORDER Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that mainly affects your mood. People with Bipolar are likely to experience both manic or hypomanic episodes (feeling high), depressive episodes (feeling low) and potentially some psychotic symptoms. However, it affects everyone differently. Some people may experience more depressive moods than SEE ME | PANIC OR ANXIETY ATTACKS Panic attacks are sudden attacks of extreme anxiety that give people intense feelings of fear, stress or excitement. And as a result people all over the country and beyond are talking about mental health online, with their friends and family and in the streets. The campaign was started by our Community Champions to change the way people view mental health. Pass the Badge invites people to wear a See MeSEE ME | DEPRESSION

See Me is Scotland's Programme to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination. We are funded by Scottish Government and Comic Relief and are managed by SAMH and The Mental Health Foundation. YOUNG PEOPLE'S MENTAL HEALTH Mental health is part of everyone’s day to day life, it affects all of us, but there is still a stigma around it. To tackle this properly we need to help young people to understand that it is okay not to be okay and you can talk about it. SEE ME | BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER Difficulty in making and sustaining stable and close relationships. Unstable sense of identity. Self-harm. Fears of being abandoned, rejected or alone. Impulsive behaviour. Experiencing periods where there is a loss of control with reality. BPD/EUPD is a very broad diagnosis which includes lots of different people with very differentexperiences.
SEE ME | PANIC OR ANXIETY ATTACKS Panic attacks are sudden attacks of extreme anxiety that give people intense feelings of fear, stress or excitement. The attacks are often triggered by anxious or stressful situations. Most panic attacks last between five and 20 minutes. During a panic attack you might feel veryafraid that you're:
