QUILT NATIONAL '21 is the twenty-second in the series of international juried competitions dedicated to promoting the contemporary quilt by serving as a showcase for NEW work (completed after September 1, 2018) that provides the viewer with an appreciation of the variety of techniques and innovative trends in the medium of layered and stitchedfabric.

Benefit Auction. The annual Benefit Auction is SAQA's premier fundraising event! All proceeds help support SAQA's exhibition programs, publications, and education outreach. Plus, your purchase helps increase the recognition for art quilts and the artists who make them. The 2021 auction will take place online from September 10through October 3.

Gastronomy is the study of the relationship between food and culture, featuring not only the bountiful gifts from nature, but a gift from the human hand. JURIED ARTIST PROGRAM A Juried Artist Member (JAM) of SAQA is an artist who has successfully presented a portfolio to the Juried Artist Review Panel. Showing a professional approach to art, the portfolio presents a body of work that represents a singular point of view or signature collection. This portfolio is submitted through an online application process. RESOURCES ON DESIGN EVALUATION How do you evaluate your own work? When asked to critique another artist’s work do you feel confident in the language you want to use? This unit of SAQA Seminar Visual Design is all about building on what you’ve learned so you can evaluate your work as you design, or after you’ve completed an art quilt. As designs develop, we can look back at the principles and see if they help to EDGES (SAQA REGIONAL) Massachusetts & Rhode Island Region.
