WHAT IS SANFERMIN?
1) Sanfermin is a lot more than just the Running of the Bulls. The Running of the Bulls is the best-known event of the Sanfermin fiestas but it is by no means the only one. There are lots of other ways to enjoy yourself between the 6th and the 14th of July. Even if you have no interest in bulls, you can still enjoy the fiestas to the maximum. “POBRE DE MÍ”, THE END-CEREMONY OF Depositing silk necktie to Sanfermin. The red necktie is a classic symbol of the Fiestas. It is put on when the rocket goes off at 12.00 midday on the sixth of July. And it is worn until the closing of the Fiesta on the night of the fourteenth, when the Pobre de Mí – (Poor me) is sung by the sad crowd. BULLFIGHT, THE CORRIDA The corrida or bullfight during San Fermin is very different to bullfights in any other big bullring in Spain or anywhere else. First of all, because it’s organised by the “Casa de Misericordia” or “Meca” (Old-Folks Home) and the profits go towards the upkeep of this charitable institution. This philanthropic end makes it somewhat easier to pay the expensive prices.
