PASTOR'S MESSAGE
Welcome to the MISSION BASILICA SAN BUENAVENTURA!...the_ MISSION BYTHE SEA!_
Our Mission Basilica Mass schedule is fully restored; registration is no longer required. The gift shop and parish offices are open as well. Presently, masks are required on the Mission grounds and throughout the state of California. At the end of Matthew’s Gospel, we hear Jesus commission His DISCIPLES (MT 28: 16-20): “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make DISCIPLES of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commandedyou.”
This is our baptismal identity and calling…to be DISCIPLES of the Lord Jesus who is risen from the dead. To help us to remember who we are in Jesus and what we are called to do, you will see and read new signage in the back of the Basilica and in the foyer of O’Brien Hall. We are called to be DYNAMIC DISCIPLES. A Dynamic Disciple BELIEVES in Jesus as Savior. A Dynamic Disciple GROWS in following Jesus. A Dynamic Disciple GATHERS in a faith community. A Dynamic Disciple LOVES unconditionally. A Dynamic Disciple LEADS other to Jesus. For recent or future ministies or events please viw our parish bulletin link to the rightside of the website or view the calendar of events under "EVENTS" above. "Siempre Adelante" Shalom, Fr. Tom Elewaut CHURCH COVID19 UPDATE MAY 18, 2021 The Ventura County Environmental Health Division states: California and Ventura County continue to require the use of masks. "California has made amazing progress in our fight against COVID-19. With more than 34 million vaccines administered, we now have among the lowest case and positivity rates in the nation. On JUNE 15, CALIFORNIA PLANS TO IMPLEMENT THE CDC’S GUIDELINES AROUND MASKING TO ALLOW FULLY VACCINATED CALIFORNIANS TO GO WITHOUT A MASK IN MOST INDOOR SETTINGS. This four-week period will give Californians time to prepare for this change while we continue our relentless focus on delivering vaccines, particularly in underserved communities. Until June 15, when California plans to fully reopen the economy, California will keep our existing guidance around masks inplace.
We URGE ALL CALIFORNIANS TO GET VACCINATED to ensure that infection and hospitalization rates remain low across the state and that we can all return to the activities we love. As of May 3, 2021, face coverings are no longer required outdoors except at crowded events, and for unvaccinated people, when physical distancing cannot be maintained. In INDOOR SETTINGS OUTSIDE OF ONE’S HOME, including public transportation and schools, FACE COVERINGS CONTINUE TO BE REQUIRED REGARDLESS OF VACCINATION STATUS.” UNTIL JUNE 15, MISSION BASILICA SAN BUENAVENTURA REQUIRES WEARING MASKS ON THE PROPERTY AT ALL TIMES.
