Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s Painting Collection is composed of select examples of early Turkish painting as well as the works of foreign artists who worked in Istanbul during the later years of the Ottoman Empire. Sakıp Sabancı Museum’s laboratory is one of the first Turkish conservation laboratories focusing on paper. While the Museum was being founded, the laboratory was established for the conservation and restoration of the Arts of the Book and Calligraphy Collection. The Modern of His Time,’ providing a comprehensive insight into the versatile artistic production of Hüseyin Avni Lifij (1886-1927) who occupies a unique position in the history of Turkishpainting.

Storage Management. Part of the collections are kept in the artwork storerooms. Framed works are hung on slidinghanging systems, while three dimensioned pieces and furniture are placed on shelves.Manuscripts are preserved in non-acid dustproof cardboard boxes which allow for air circulation.Unframed single pages are placed horizontally on shelves in non-acid envelopes.HOW TO GET HERE
How to Get Here. Ramps and lifts in all the galleries facilitate access for the disabled. Wheelchairs are available by calling the museum one day in advance of the visit.PUBLICATIONS
