The art you've been seeing in our emails and posts on social media for today's drive was made by grade 11 students as part of their integrated study of the Climax of the Modern Mentality. In this unit, students explore cultural, scientific, and social changes that took place during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In Jennifer Cross's integrated Visual Arts class, students examine and practice the theory and methods of major artists of the period. The works we've included in this campaign are from students' study of Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky, the first artist to compose purely abstract paintings, and the music of Arnold Schoenberg, a pioneer of Expressionist music. The rich, complex tapestry of the Spiral Curriculum is just one of the things that makes Ross a special place. Ross would be nothing without the community of learners and educators who bring the curriculum tolife every day.
Today we're striving for 100% family participation from our entire school. If you haven't done so already, take a moment to make a gift, of any size, to our Annual Fund. If you give today, we'll send an ecard to the person in our community to whom you feel most grateful. http://ross.org/spring__
