RAILFUTURE | RESTORING YOUR RAILWAY Railfuture welcomed the government's January 2020 announcement of funding for Reversing Beeching, and bid guidance. This was a successful outcome to the Rail reopening fund campaign launched less than two years earlier! £500m will only be enough to reopen about 25 miles of railway at typical Network Rail costs, so this funding shouldbe used
RAILFUTURE | THE NORTHUMBERLAND LINE The original Blyth and Tyne railway was a network of lines and branches originally built to move coal from the collieries of South East Northumberland to the various ports on the Blyth & Tyne rivers. The first planning applications for stations are now being submitted including those for Ashington RAILFUTURE | PRESS RELEASE 2ND JUNE 2021 STOCKSBRIDGE CRISIS: BRING BACK PASSENGER TRAINS The potential closure of the Stocksbridge steelworks is a massive threat to the localcommunity.

Railfuture supports the Rail Decarb21 call for a rolling programme which is needed to meet decarbonisation targets. A rolling programme will give the industry the confidence it needs to build experienced teams and so reduce thecost.

FROM RURAL BRANCH TO MAIN LINE 30th October 2019 Railfuture East Anglia – Upgrading the Mid-Anglia Route Page 3 of 20 Reduction in capacity 1960s-1990s Although the only casualty of the notorious Beeching axe in the 1960s was the section of line from Newmarket to Ely between Warren Hill tunnel and Snailwell Junctions (the remainder of RAILFUTURE | OXFORD METRO Oxford has ambitions for remodelling the station with additional platforms, and introduction of metro-style services in the area around the city, including to Cowley, Witney and John Radcliffe Hospital. RAILFUTURE | GILSLAND STATION INTRODUCTION Gilsland station was originally opened on 19 July 1836 when it was known as "Rose Hill". It was renamed "Gilsland" on 1 May 1869 and, after having been proposed for closure in the Beeching Report, closed to passengers on 2 January 1967. CROSSRAIL 2: EASTERN PHASE Crossrail 2: Eastern Phase | 3 By 2041 Population growth: 89,800 Job creation: 34,000 New homes built: 40,800* Driven by significant development of jobs and RAILFUTURE | REOPENING CAMPAIGN SUCCESS Over thirty years of Railfuture campaigning has culminated in success with the award of £794m by the government to construct and reopen East West Rail between Oxford and Bletchley, and to rapidly progress the plan to reopen the Ashington Blyth and Tyne OXFORD CAMBRIDGE ROUTES AND CONNECTIONS MAP Oxford to Cambridge and more The objective is to open a railway from Oxford to Cambridge. The new train service would: Directly link Oxford, Bicester, Aylesbury, Milton GUIDE TO RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE COSTS 2nd February 2016 Page 1 Rail offers high quality congestion free transport. This report gives some indicative costs of recent rail infrastructure projects to help comparison with other infrastructure schemes, and to help RAILFUTURE | TIDE TURNS FOR WATERSIDE The branch links Fawley with Totton on the main line just west of Southampton. Bus services between Southampton and the Waterside communities are subject to chronic road congestion – peak-time journeys of up to an hour between Southampton and Hythe have beenreported.

RAILFUTURE | CAMPAIGNS Electrification - lowest cost and zero carbon Reducing the cost of operating rail services and meeting the government's zero carbon objectives for transport require a sustainable rolling programme of electrification for Britain’s railways using a mix of technologies including overhead wiring, third rail, battery and hydrogen. RAILFUTURE | ELECTIONS Voting has now closed in the 2021 election for the three directors who will serve from 2021 to 2024, the fourth who will serve until 2023 and the fifth who will serve until 2022.
