HISTORY
The Presidio is where San Francisco began. Founded at the Golden Gate in 1776, it was a military fort under the flags of Spain, Mexico and the United States before it became a new kind of national park in 1994. History comes alive here.KIDS AND FAMILY

The Presidio is a natural oasis right next door to the big city – a place where you can experience wildflowers, watersheds, and wildlife on an afternoon hike. It is also a where important work is being done to revitalize natural areas. RECREATION AND WELLNESS The Presidio has 1,500 acres for you to exercise, play, and get away from it all. You'll get close to nature, get your pulse moving, and may even drop a pound or two.VOLUNTEERING
