Mentioned in the literature as early as the sixteenth century, the Poland, sometimes in earlier documentation, was TRANSYLVANIAN NAKED NECK & THE POULTRY CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN Transylvanian Naked Neck. Rare Soft Feather Heavy Chickens. Transylvania has been part of Romania since 1918, but was once part of the Ottoman Turkish Empire, and then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Naked Neck chickens have been recorded in many parts of Europe and the Middle East, so it is difficult to be sure about their origin. YOKOHAMA & THE POULTRY CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN In an effort to bring some order to their assortment of imported types, German fanciers restricted the name Yokohama to the red saddled whites, and invented a new name, Phoenix, for the white lobed, single combed type. The hen will do this naturally if she has gone 'broody', or a specially made incubator can be used. The developing embryo (the chick) feeds on the eggs yolk through a series of blood vessels. BUFF ORPINGTON & THE POULTRY CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN These ducks were believed to be the result of cross-breeding Indian Runners to Aylesburys, Rouens and Cayugas. The buffs were standardised in 1910, followed by the blue variety in 1926. Black, white and chocolate Orpingtons were also developed but these were not standardised.
