The PenFed Foundation is a national nonprofit organization founded in 2001 that is committed to helping members of our military community secure their financial future. Its mission is to provide service members, veterans, and their families and support networks with the skills and resources they need to build a strong financial future.The DAV - EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE Additional Information. The PenFed Foundation works with Veterans Plus to help us provide financial counseling for our veterans. Once the application is submitted by a DAV-National Service Officer, PenFed will refer the veteran to Veterans Plus. HOME BUYING ASSISTANCE The amount of the grant is determined by a 2-to-1 match of the borrower’s contribution to their mortgage in earnest deposit and cash brought at closing with a maximum grant of $5,000. For example, if a borrower lists in their application that they are contributing $1,000 the grant will be $2,000. The smallest grant size is $1,000.
