THE PEACE ALLIANCE
The Peace Alliance has championed efforts to support the adoption of legislation to establish a cabinet-level US Department of Peacebuilding in our federal government. Department of Peacebuilding Act of 2021 was INTRODUCED on February 18, 2021! Systemic racism is a significant driver of violence and a key obstacle to peace. EDUCATE - THE PEACE ALLIANCE - THE PEACE ALLIANCE EDUCATE. We expand awareness about strategic and successful programs that are dedicated to making improvements in the areas of our Five Cornerstones of peace, through our Leadership Council and the outreach to our network with frequent national calls with guest speakers, social media groups, email communication and participation in local activities and conferences around the country.MISSION & VISION

INTERNATIONAL PEACEBUILDING AGENCIES PEACEBUILDING CORNERSTONE: TEACHING PEACE IN SCHOOLS In West Philadelphia High School, within two years of implementing a Restorative Discipline program, incidents of assault and disorderly conduct dropped more than 65%. Schools are our main social avenue of learning. While the primary focus of teaching in schools is predominantly on academic skills, we feel that life skills are equallyimportant.
STATISTICS ON VIOLENCE & PEACE When adding up the concrete costs to the average American taxpayer it is estimated that violence containment spending costs $7,000 for every man, woman and child each year. That is $6 billion a day in total, or $246 million an hour. U.S. violence containment spending amounted to $7,000 per year for every man, woman, and child, as mentioned above. PEACEBUILDING STRUCTURES GROWING IN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT Peacebuilding Structures Growing in Federal Government. Over the last two years support has grown in Washington to prioritize peacebuilding and to re-organize the Foreign Affairs bureaucracy to elevate the prominence of peacebuilding within our government. These aren’t a panacea, and no measure may be perfect, but they are important steps 2014 GLOBAL PEACE INDEX RELEASED last week the Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP) released the 2014 edition of its annual Global Peace Index (GPI), which “ranks nations according to their level of peace.” The world has become less peaceful every year since 2008, highlighting the importance of better understanding conflict and violence risk and greater investment inpeacebuilding.

HISTORY OF MOTHER'S DAY AS A DAY OF PEACE: JULIA WARD HOWE In the 1800's, Julia Ward Howe, original advocate for “Mother’s Day” and writer of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” nursed and tended the wounded during the civil war.
