Located within the confines of the Abbey, the Orval Brewery was created in 1931 to finance the enormous reconstruction works of Orval. It has hired lay workers from the outset, including the master brewer, Pappenheimer, who invented the recipe. HOW TO SERVE ORVAL • ORVAL How to serve Orval. Serving an Orval is an art. Below are a few practical tips. Open the bottle by using a good bottle opener securely held in the hand. Never use another object for this such as a lighter, a knife, etc. When opening, apply some pressure to the cap so that it stays on the bottle. You will hear the pressure escaping from thebottle.

NATURE RESERVE • ORVAL Prés d'Orval nature reserve, hunting grounds and harde. The meadow of this valley floor is maintained by extensive grazing, from April to November, by Highland cattle or Kyloe. She prayed to the Lord and at once a trout rose to the surface with the precious ring in its mouth. Matilde exclaimed : Truly this place is a Val d'Or ! After the tour, the visitors can still free discover the pharmacy and medicinal plants garden, as well as the museum Abraham about the brewing know-how in Orval and the shop. Open the bottle by using a good bottle opener securely held in the hand. Never use another object for this such as a lighter, a knife, etc. When opening, apply some pressure to the cap so that it stays on the bottle. You will hear the pressure escaping from thebottle.
AUTHENTIC & KNOW-HOW • ORVAL Authentic & Know-how. Orval cheese has been made on the premises of the Abbey since 1928, using a recipe concocted in 1816 by Trappist monks from Port du Salut Abbey. The cheese is pressed, uncooked with a natural washed crust distinguished by its creaminess. The current dairy is situated in the old farm building erected by the architectVaes

Inaugurated in August 2007, the new brewing hall is really at the cutting edge of new technologies, developed by a German manufacturer in cooperation with Orval brewery and a Belgian university. She prayed to the Lord and at once a trout rose to the surface with the precious ring in its mouth. Matilde exclaimed : Truly this place is a Val d'Or ! In gratitude, she decided to establish a monastery on thesite.

MONASTIC MUSEUM • ORVAL The museum's prime originality lies in its location, as its collections are housed in vaulted cellars dating from the 18th century. The visitor is thus taken back to the sole vestiges of the neo-classical buildings elected on plans by the architect Laurent-Benoît Dewez, which then served as the foundation when Orval was reconstructed in the beginning of the 20th century.
