Scholastic Art & Writing Awards . Big Names from Hollywood and the White House will Headline this year’s 2021 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Virtual Ceremony! MEET THE 2021 GOLD MEDAL PORTFOLIO RECIPIENTS: BRIANNA This year, more than 1,700 students received national recognition in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest running scholarship and awards program for creative teens. Among them, 16 high school seniors received the program’s highest honor: the Gold Medal Portfolio, which includes a $10,000 scholarship. Each week, we’ll highlight two of these students, one ALL BECAUSE YOU MATTER ACTIVITIES All Because You Matter by Tami Charles and illustrated by Bryan Collier is a lyrical, heart-lifting love letter to Black and Brown children everywhere: reminding them how much they matter, that they have always matter, and they always will. To help continue the conversations that we hope the book sparks, we've created activities for you and your child to do centered around the 14 READERS TELL US WHY DIVERSE BOOKS ARE SO IMPORTANT Earlier this summer, we asked our readers to tell us why diversity in books mattered to them. The responses we received were beautiful, inspired, and heartwarming, and confirmed for us over and over again the importance of making sure that all kids can see themselves in the books they read.
