CAREERS AT NYSCF
The mission of The New York Stem Cell Foundation is to accelerate cures for the major diseases of our time through stem cell research. In just over one decade, NYSCF has created not only foundational tools for using stem cells in basic research, but also pioneering technologies that will allow stem cells to be used therapeutically. NYSCF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Each year, high-achieving and talented high school, undergraduate, and graduate students are selected to work in New York City as part of the NYSCF Summer Internship Program, a ten-week unique summer enrichment internship program that provides students a rare glimpse into the fast-paced world of stem cell research, insight into life at an entrepreneurial nonprofit research institute, exposureDANIEL PAULL, PHD

It was also one of the 7 actionable strategies put forward by the group in the 2015 Cell Stem Cell paper “Seven Actionable Strategies for Advancing Women in Science, Medicine, and Engineering”. Dr. Noggle leads the NYSCF Research Institute, overseeing all stem cell research programs. With a long-standing interest in the derivation and use of human stem cells to understand human development and disease, Dr. Noggle applies new advances in pluripotent stem cell biology and cell reprogramming to the creation of human models of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease and WHAT HAPPENS IN THE BRAIN DURING OBSERVATIONAL LEARNING This technique shows how neurons change their firing rates during learning. When the observer mice heard the tone, activity in their anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) and basolateral amygdala (BLA) increased. The ACC is known to be involved in social information, and the BLA helps process emotion. This suggests that during observationallearning
