It is a ballast keel, centerboard boat with gaff main and self-tacking jib. This is a very stable boat with a 600 lb. lead keel and yet is nimble even in light winds. We stole the framework of Race to Alaska, because the Canadians still won’t let us in, and twisted it into one of the toughest boat races ever seen on these waters. SALISH 100 | NORTHWEST MARITIME CENTER Salish 100 is designed to bring people together in celebration. The fleet of small boats range from SCAMPs to Whitehalls, wherries, sharpies, melonseeds and flatiron skiffs; this includes a variety of smaller production sailboats and dozens of home-built sailing androwing boats.
