P – plan your escape route should a fire occur. LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE Our new Learning and Development Centre is revolutionising how we train our Firefighters. The facility, based just outside Cookstown, is a Northern Ireland Executive Flagship Project. Phase 1, which includes a real life tactical Firefighting facility, opened in September 2019 and a planning application for Phase 2 was submitted in December 2020. WHOLETIME FIREFIGHTER Shift Patterns. Firefighters have to work shifts, public holidays and could be stationed anywhere in Northern Ireland. You will work on 1 of our 3 Duty Systems in operation. Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 6.00pm, with days off in lieu. Consists of 7 shifts in a 2 week cycle form7.30am to 7.30pm.
