CHANGES TO NC COVID-19 GUIDANCE: NAVIGATING OUR NEW NORMAL Last Friday, Gov. To make sure the voice of our statewide business community is heard in PROPOSED TAX REFORMS WOULD ELEVATE NC’S BUSINESS TAX Earlier this year, North Carolina secured its first top ten finish in the State Business Tax Climate Index released each year by the Tax Foundation, a nonpartisan, D.C.-based think tank focused on issues of tax competitiveness. We once ranked as low as 46 th in this index, with the highest corporate tax rate in the Southeast, before state leaders enacted a series of targeted tax reforms early CHANGES TO NC COVID-19 GUIDANCE: NAVIGATING OUR NEW NORMAL Last Friday, Gov. Roy Cooper signed an executive order removing most of the state’s masking requirements, capacity limits, and social distancing rules. Over the past week, I have heard from members that this news came with a partial sigh of relief but also uncertainty as businesses are looking to strike a balance between employee and patron safety concerns and the state’s newest COVID-19LOCAL CHAMBERS
An aligned business community is instrumental to the success of the Jobs Agenda, as well as advancing the initiatives outlined in North Carolina Vision 2030. When it comes to health care value, North Carolina’s got it backwards. While North Carolina’s health care costs continue to skyrocket, the state’s outcomes remain far below average.
