Attunement is the reactiveness we have to another person. It is the process by which we form relationships. Dr. Dan Siegel says, "When we attune with others we allow our own internal state to shift, to come to resonate with the inner world of another. This resonance is at the heart of the important sense of “feeling felt” that emerges in WHEN ATTACHMENT IS DISRUPTED However, there are plenty of circumstances that disrupt a secure attachment. It could be the loss of a parent, a child with multiple caregivers, illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, and the list goes on. If the attachment is disrupted, the child may not develop the secure base needed to form and support relationships throughout life. GENDER MICROAGGRESSIONS Gender Microaggressions - We're All Guilty of Them. Gender microaggressions are small, seemingly innocuous comments that can pile up over time and affect a person’s sense of self and identity. These microaggressions can become so commonplace that we don’t even notice them. Here are a few examples of common gender-relatedmicroaggressions
UPSTAIRS AND DOWNSTAIRS BRAIN We need the upstairs and the downstairs brain to work together. The staircase is one of the most important parts of a two-story house, and that same logic is true for the brain. When the brain’s staircase is built, the upstairs brain can monitor the strong emotions and impulses from the downstairs and make sense of them.
