After originally asking if it's a good idea to buy Taranis with a 4 in 1 module to run my Hitec and Spektrum receivers I was advised it was an even better idea to get a Radiomaster TX16s, after a bit of convincing I decided on a Radiomaster and despite my initial reservations I'm veryimpressed.

AN AFFORDABLE AVRO
An Affordable Avro - Part 1. Dave Batchelor describes his modifications whilst building a 98" Vulcan V-bomber to the Tony Nijhuis plan. Following the demise of my MB339 back in 2016, I was left with (thankfully) a spare Jetcat P100 turbine looking for a home. I could not afford an ARTF model to put it in at the time so the ideaof building
PLAN BUILD MODELS
The Ohm 8 plan is available via the RCM&E plans service. This article and pull out plan were originally published in RCM&E, May 1964. It is reproduced in its original form, including references to R/C equipment of the time but with minor modifications could be WELCOME TO OUR NEW RCM&E MAGAZINE WEBSITE! As may be apparent, we've updated our RCM&E magazine website and Model Flying forums. The previous website/forum had reached the end of its life and could no longer be upgraded or kept secure. The RCM&E website and Model Flying forums are now each on their own dedicated platforms and you can log in and out of each one independently. Here is some useful information for using the new EZE-FAN | RCM&E HOME OF MODEL FLYING EZE-Fan is a one-piece, all-sheet balsa design with a pod-and-boom like structure. Some say it looks a little like an Alpha Jet while others think there's a bit of A6 Intruder thrown in, but whatever its influences, it's sure to please in whatever colour scheme you chooseto adopt.
RANS S-9 CHAOS. PETER MILLER'S NEW DESIGN BLOG Well, after searching for a long time I finally found the perfect design for my type of model. THis is the RansS-9 Chaos.A microlight powered by a Rotax engine but one like you have never heard of before. The aircraft is fully aerobatic and is stressed to +9 and -6 G. It is built like a model and SOLDERING. - BEGINNERS - RCM&E HOME OF MODEL FLYING FORUMS Posted May 2. Traditional lead/tin solder is available from outlets like CPC Farnell, Rapid Online and no doubt EBay. Lead free solder takes some getting used to and wrecks soldering iron bits quite quickly. A 250g reel of good multicore tin/lead solder (like this Multicore Solder will last a AND FINALLY.....THE 'MINI JET' TSR2 Version 2, Span increases to 51.80 feet, sweep reduced to 48 degrees and wing area increased to 980 sq feet. Tailplane in each case was left unchanged. But the increased take off weights meant the tailplane’s authority is reduced. In the end, the proposal was a dead end as the cost was mounting and quietly dropped. TARANIS FRSKY WITH RADIOMASTER R168 Morning all. After getting thoroughly confused with frsky changing protocol after needing some new receivers for some newly acquired models I got myself 2x radiomaster r168 after hearing good things. ADVENTURES IN ELECTRIC AEROTOW Chris Williams SG Â |Â Jun 02, 2021 Â |Â 0 comments Chris Williams and chums try their hand at a spot of electric poweredglider tugging.
It all started a couple of years ago, when my long-time flying buddy, Barrington V. Smallpiece built a miniature scale glider - a Skylark from the West Wings kit.Continue Reading »

SAVOIA-MARCHETTI SM.79 Alex Whittaker | May 28, 2021  | 0 comments Alex Whittaker admires Ken Sheppard’s ex-ARTF cartoon scale Italiantrimotor
The Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero (Sparrowhawk) first flew in September 1934. It was a low-wing, triple-engine cantilever monoplane of wood and metal construction. Operated as a medium bomber it was easily recognisable by its distinct fuselage hump. Indeed, its crews, who generally seemed to like the aircraft, dubbed the design 'il gobbo maledetto', or damned hunchback.Continue Reading »

Back in 1967 Jim Bede and his chief designer Paul Griffin sharpened their pencils and started creating a design for an aircraft that would become the BD-5, also referred to as the Micro.Continue Reading »

An Affordable Avro - Part 2 Dave batchelor | May 13, 2021  | 0 comments Dave Batchelor finishes and flies his 98" Vulcan V-bomber built from the Tony Nijhuis plan. Running fuel lines and wiring in the fuselage was going to be very untidy as only the holes in the ribs and bulkheads could be used to run them through. Good visibility inside is afforded by the large air intakes so I wanted it to look good inside as well as out.Continue Reading »

Scale Gliding Chris Williams 13 |Â Apr 30, 2021 Â |Â 0 comments Chris Williams kicks off his new scale soaring column with a rareFly-In report.
As we all know, there was precious little to be pleased about in 2020. But one thing happened that stimulated even my normal dystopian cynicism. The White Sheet Club (or White Sheet Radio Flying Club, to declare its full title) had lost most of its scheduled events by the time we got to September. All that was left was the proposed Scale Glider Fly-In on the 13th. (The 13th? You can’t make this stuff up!) To add to the tension, the following day was when the existing 30-person rule was due to be chopped down to six, so the stakes were very high. You can imagine the surprise all round when the forecast was one of such perfection, that it’s never happened before, or since. I was a little worried that the 30-person rule might be breached, but on the day a manageable 20+ plus turned up to make haywhilst they could.

Simple Sailman Roy Thompson  | Apr 30, 2021  | 0 comments Roy Thompson rescues a once popular Brit kit from a clubmate's loft and launches it to lofty heights. Back in the late 70s my then model clubmates and I were into thermal soaring, flying R/C gliders (pre-electric) at Cranford Park in West London. My club was the Hayes & District MAC. Throughout the summer Wednesday night was club competition night, with trophies to be won at the end of the year. A typical comp would be a six-minute duration event with a spot landing bonus. At the time Bowman Model Kits of Ipswich advertised widely in the modelling magazines, being one of many small kit manufacturers in the UK. They had a good reputation for their no fuss designs and model kits supplied with good quality hardware.Continue Reading »
