MITA AND COVID-19
MITA is committed to ensuring the safety of our staff, volunteers and community as we navigate the challenging waters of COVID-19. Our mission – to advance a model of thoughtful use and volunteer stewardship of Maine’s wild islands, creating an inspiring recreational water trail that is cared for by the people who use it – has taken on new meaning and importance during this time. HOW TO BUILD A ROLLING KAYAK STORAGE SYSTEM Smooth the edges of each bracket piece with a sander or router. Cut the 2” dowel into 1-1/2” pieces, and drill an 11/32” hole down the center. You’ll need 2 per bracket. For the nylon straps, you’ll need two lengths for each boat. I found 6 feet to give me enough adjustment to get the kayak at the right elevation in thesling.

Island Cleanups. MITA’s cleanups are full-day events where experienced volunteer skippers take crews to targeted islands to clean shorelines. Bring a group to split the fee and make the trip more affordable. Swan Island (Kennebec River): A ferry service for day users and campers is available from the town of Richmond, ME by reservation. Swan has 12 overnight sites available, including 10 shelters, 1 campsite, and one large group site. Camping reservations are required.VISITING GUIDELINES

PRESTO 30 - MITA
Schoodic. is the second of nine Presto 30s built to an extraordinarily innovative and capable design by Rodger Martin and constructed to custom boat standards by Maine’s Union River Boat Company in 2010.. Drawing only 13 inches and beachable with centerboard, rudder, and outboard retracted, the boat has sleeping accommodations for four people, an enclosed head, and simple galley.1967 MACWESTER 28
1967 Macwester 28. DULCINEA is a Macwester 28 foot Twin Keel Sloop that was built in England in 1967 and imported to the US the following year. In 2004-06 she was completely rebuilt by the Mattapoisett Boatyard. A new 28 HP Westerbeke diesel engine was added, the tiller replaced by pedestal steering, and all new instrumentation wasinstalled.
1947 RHODES CUSTOM DAYSAILER 1947 Rhodes Custom Daysailer. The “Douce Amie” is a wonderful wooden daysailer that received an extensive restoration in winter of 1999/2000. June 9, 2021 - Gay Island work day. June 10, 2021 - Burnt trail work w/HIOBS. exact date TBD. June 17, 2021 @ 12:00 am - June 18, 2021 @ 12:00 am - Russ work day w/ Chewonki & MCHT. HOW TO BUILD A ROLLING KAYAK STORAGE SYSTEM Smooth the edges of each bracket piece with a sander or router. Cut the 2” dowel into 1-1/2” pieces, and drill an 11/32” hole down the center. You’ll need 2 per bracket. For the nylon straps, you’ll need two lengths for each boat. I found 6 feet to give me enough adjustment to get the kayak at the right elevation in thesling.
