WHO WE ARE - MENTAL HEALTH EUROPE - MHE-SME.ORG Mental Health Europe is a European non-governmental network organisation committed to the promotion of positive mental health, the prevention of mental distress, the improvement of care, advocacy for social inclusion and the protection of the rights of (ex)users of mental health services, persons with psychosocial disabilities, their families and carers. EUROPEAN MENTAL HEALTH WEEK Mental Health Europe is hosting the second edition of the European Mental Health Week on 10 – 16 May 2021. This year’s theme ‘Mental Health Matters’ will shine a spotlight on mental health as a high-profile societal issue as well as a deeply personal experience for everyone during the pandemic. In times of COVID-19 mental health has become more important than ever. FEMALE HEROES OF EUROPE'S MENTAL HEALTH Alviina is an outspoken advocate for mental health and a member of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament. As a co-chair of MHE’s Coalition for Mental Health and Wellbeing in the European Parliament, she aims to grant everybody in Europe access to mental healthcare, and build better mental health policies.. When she was 15, Alviina experienced a traumatic school shooting situation ACCESS TO JUSTICE FOR PERSONS WITH PSYCHOSOCIAL 5 02 General outline Being able to seek legal support and accessing justice systems is a central pillar in societies adhering to the rule of law. The reasons for seeking legal support can cover a wide range of topics, such as housing COMPULSORY PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT AND ITS ALTERNATIVES Compulsory treatment is not aimed at improving health, but is aimed at preventing damage resulting from behaviours that are believed to cause such damage – suicide or endangering the life of others. This concept relies on the belief that psychiatric treatment may effectively influence such behaviours and that people may be“cured”.
