CIS CONTROLS WORKSHOP The primary goals of this workshop series are to: Introduce public sector individuals to the risks and concepts surrounding cybersecurity; Inform participants on the existing cyber threats posed by hackers, criminals, terrorism actors, and nation-state attackers; CHAPTER 6 – INTERNET ACCESS TECHNOLOGIES – MERIT The home internet access method, deployed in the early 1980s, consisted of dial-up modems running over standard telephone lines. Early modems operated at speeds of 1200 bits per second, which is excruciatingly slow by today’s standards but worked well enough to access what were almost entirely text-based resources.
