HISTORY AND EVOLUTION OF BIPOLAR DISORDER DIAGNOSIS Just as the information about bipolar disorder evolved in the medical literature, the criteria for bipolar disorder diagnosis have changed with successive versions of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, mentioned earlier. Each edition of the DSM reflects a continuing appreciation and incorporation of scientific data with regard to mental disorders. CHLAMYDIA - MENTAL HELP Chlamydia occurs when the Chlamydia Trachomatis bacteria gets into the vagina or penis and causes infection. With an estimated 2.8 million infections each year in the United States, Chlamydia is the most common STD of them all. Chlamydia is so common that it is recommended that doctors routinely screen all sexually active women under the ageof
SCHIZOPHRENIA HOTLINE NUMBER Schizophrenia is a chronic, debilitating mental illness with potentially pervasive negative consequences—affecting not only those individuals who have it, but friends and family who love them. 1 Patients diagnosed with schizophrenia tend to be in their late teens to mid-thirties, and symptoms are often preceded by what is called the prodromal period. 2 During the prodromal period, an INTRODUCTION TO WELLNESS Wellness is a broad topic that includes disease prevention (the taking of steps to avoid getting ill at a future date), stress reduction, and even personal, social and spiritual growth. At least as applied to healthcare, wellness is a new idea. The western world's healthcare establishment has historically always focused on illness, and curing DEPRESSION INTRODUCTION Depression Introduction. Everyone experiences sadness and unhappiness at some point in their lives. Clinical Depression, however, is more intense and of longer duration than typical sadness or grief, which interferes with a person's ability to engage in daily activities. The symptoms of depression can include: loss of interest or pleasure in DEPRESSION AMONG DEMOGRAPHICS AND PROFESSIONS The five industries most affected by depression cover a large spectrum. From those who were surveyed, public and private transit showed the highest at 16.2% of workers suffering depression, followed by real estate (15.7%), social services (14.6%), manufacturing (14.3%), and personal services (14.3%). We see more diversity as thelist continues.
ATTACHMENT THEORY OF PERSONALITY DISORDER The theory separates these working models of relationships into two main categories, secure attachment and insecure attachment, according to the degree of safety and security present within the relationships represented by the models. The category of insecure attachment is further subdivided based on how children react to others as a result of their working models: ambivalent, avoidant, or FOURTEEN DYSFUNCTIONAL THOUGHTS THAT CAN KEEP PEOPLE SICK 8. Mind reading – is a prediction about other people’s thoughts or behaviors that is made without checking it out. Have I presumed to know how others must be thinking or feeling? 9. Overgeneralization – is the use of a single negative event as evidence for a never-ending pattern of negative events. SEPARATION ANXIETY DISORDER ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT A variety of factors likely contribute to the development of Separation Anxiety Disorder, as is also the case for Anxiety Disorders.Children may inherit a tendency to develop anxiety disorders, typically described as a personality trait called Neuroticism or Emotional Stability, from their parents. THE LINK BETWEEN BIPOLAR DISORDER AND ANGER Mood Cycles and Seeking Treatment. A person with bipolar disorder has a condition that is linked to chemical imbalances in the brain. The symptoms are comprised of going through cycles of depression and mania (too much energy, poor decision making, and/or racing thoughts).. A significant portion of people with bipolar disorder also have moderate to high levels of anger. ON AGING AND TURNING 70 The bottom line is that, in our youth oriented society, it is easy to make presumptions about what aging is. It is not depressing, sad, end of life, or tragic. Tragedy and loss can and does happen all during the life span of any of us, regardless of our present age. Finally, I am much better able to live in and appreciate living in the moment. ALCOHOL AND PERSONALITY CHANGES For example, it can be dangerous to use benzodiazepines ( Valium, Xanax, etc) with alcohol. The reason is that all of these, including alcohol, are central nervous system depressants. As such, they can suppress breathing and cause death. If a person is abusing benzodiazepines and alcohol, there is an even more acute danger ofdeath.
