We share her grief today, but we also share her pride and the grief and pride of Ronnie’s children. For the final years of his life, Ronnie’s mind was clouded by illness. That cloud has now lifted. At the end of October 1990 MT went to her final European Council and found herself isolated 11:1, as so often before. She told the press she was sorry for the eleven. I am very much aware of the historical continuity extending over four centuries, during which the position of the Church of Scotland has been recognised in SPEECH AT KENSINGTON TOWN HALL ("BRITAIN AWAKE") (THE IRON Speech at Kensington Town Hall ("Britain Awake") (The Iron Lady) The press release (42/76) was embargoed until 2000. It is plain from study of the speaking text that MT made a few changes after the press release had been issued and that the speech as delivered will have embodied them.
