DOUG GILFORD'S MAD COVER SITE Live. •. I was given the distinct honor of meeting and sharing some laughs with legendary Mad writer, Frank Jacobs, in October 2010. He was kind enough to sign some stuff, share some Mad memories, and pose for photos and video. Doug Gilford's MAD Cover Site - a resource for collectors and fans of the world's most important (ecch!) humor publication - MAD Magazine Twenty-three years ago, when the internet was young, I thought it would be a good idea to share my MAD Magazine collection with theworld.
Since those earliest days of rudimentary cover scans, the site has evolved into a respected resource for all kinds of MAD information. The goal has been to keep 69 years of data simple to access and freefor researching.
As of this writing, MAD appears to be changing into a reprint only publication. I've wondered if there's still a place for my site in thescheme of things.
The answer may be that it's more important than ever, acting as an organized lifeline to the past. Some of the sections that are most popular to visit are the issues themselves in the form of regular issues and all the reprints of those articles in the form of annuals , specials , paperbacks and books.
See who was responsible for the MADness on each issue's page, but also see the Usual Gang of Idiots on a very long UGOI contributor list.
Go to the movie and TV satire pages for a quick review and see other features that the magazine specialized in. Marvel at the ad parodies that poked fun at consumer culture. If you're looking to buy or sell, there's a price guidefor that.
If you were an early MAD reader, I hope this site fulfills the nostalgia quotient. If you're new, it's not too late to allow thissite
to guide you in your research for a couple key issues or an entire collection of trash. Thanks for visiting and have a good time!Doug
