MAD ABOUT THE HOUSE
The sourcebook for modern living. Well this one’s got film script written all over it. One of those gorgeous little apartments right in the centre of one of the most expensive cities in the world, where the gorgeous (yet clearly impoverished) young woman lives with no visiblemeans of support.
10 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT: MID-CENTURY MODERN This is a term that has been used (and abused) so much over the last ten years that I thought it might be good to have a look at true mid-century modern design to help you work out what’s real and what’s just pinched a few straight lines and called it mid-century when there’s nothing remotely mid-century about it. THE WORLD'S BEST CONTEMPORARY INTERIOR DESIGNERS: NEW BOOK Long timers among you will remember a small series I wrote way back BP (before Pandemic) about a beautiful velvet wrapped interiors book by Phaidon called The Greatest Rooms of the Century, the criteria for which was that they must all be residential. The rooms were a fascinating history of design through the decades but it was the essays at the start that really drew me in. HOUSE TOUR WITH RACHEL KHOO Some of you will remember that last year I visited the home of the tv cook Rachel Khoo whose tiny flat in north west London is a master piece of clever design and I’m thrilled that I was able to return to the other week to interview Rachel for the podcast and, this time, talk to her properly about how she has designed this tiny flat which functions as her London base (she is married to a10 BEAUTIFUL ROOMS
Morning everyone and welcome to this week’s edition of 10 Beautiful Rooms. As usual there’s no overriding theme, just a collection of spaces that have caught my eye and which I thought you might enjoy and which might spark inspiration for your own homes. MONDAY INSPIRATION: THE NEW STONE COLLECTION FROM LITTLE A palette of soft neutrals developed in conjunction with the National Trust (a long time collaborator) this collection feels perfect for now. The warm neutrals that have been trailed for several months, punctuated with bursts of soft, yet intense, shades to pep it all up alittle.
WATERPROOF WALLPAPER FOR BATHROOMS Yes you read that right. It’s not about papering the walls of the bathroom (which you can absolutely do by the way) but about using wallpaper in the actual shower. I know! I wanted to tell you about this as part of my ongoing partnership with West One Bathrooms on the Wednesday Ad break. I BATHROOM TRENDS: COLOUR IS BACK Now brace yourselves because this one is going to be controversial. Yes, it’s true. There is a gradual move towards bringing back the coloured bathroom suite. But hang on. DON’T PANIC at the back there – it’s not going to be about the 1970s which involved a peach corner bath and a shag pile carpetRICE BAG PLANTERS
Perfect for a window sill herb garden, these old rice bags are individually made in Cambodia and no two are the same, although you can specify the colours you would prefer.MAD ABOUT THE HOUSE

ON MY RADAR: INTERIORS NEWS26th May 2021
AD / May contain affiliate links Some lovely new ideas and shops for you this month with a variety of subjects so hopeful, as always, that there is something for everyone. First up Fridge Wrapping. For those of you who aren’t on Instagram I recently decided to disguise my huge (and I thought) ugly stainless steel fridge by having it wrapping…Read More...

MONDAY INSPIRATION: BEAUTIFUL ROOMS24th May 2021
AD / May contain affiliate links Well what a week. I spent most of it filming for something that I will tell you all about in September and then my in-laws came for the weekend; the first time they have been here since 2019. AD / May contain affiliate links As the UK opens up a little bit further and the weekend papers were all about being able to stay in hotels again I thought I’d share five of my favourite hotel rooms which have a homely feel – admittedly this might be the opposite of what you actually want at themoment – and…

THE HOUSEHUNTER: GEORGIAN SPLENDOUR IN NORTH LONDON14th May 2021
AD / May contain affiliate links Can I just say I am loving our new film school. You are all clearly wasted in whatever jobs you are doing (unless it’s the NHS in which case keep this as your creative outlet). The rest of you should all resign at once and move to Hollywood. Or Notting Hill. I think RichardCurtis…
