New programs at Fort Mackinac for the 2021 season include “The Changing Face of Fort Mackinac,” “The Army of the 1880s,” a deeper look into Mackinac National Park, a tour showcasing the women who called Fort Mackinac home, a Signal Drill Activity, and a program dedicated to what happened at Fort Mackinac after the army left in1895.

A Time of Change. This is Mackinac. Step into the home of Agatha and Edward Biddle, merchants who moved in around 1830. This was a time of change, and the 1830s were critical to the Biddles for another reason: as an Anishnaabek woman, Agatha and other indigenous people witnessed their culture subjected to immense changes. FORT MACKINAC TEA ROOM It has been in continuous operation since the beginning of the professional restoration of Fort Mackinac in 1958. Grand Hotel has been the Tea Room concessionaire since 1988. Admission to Fort Mackinac is required to dine at the Tea Room. Reservations are not required but can be made by calling Grand Hotel at (906) 847-6327. MACKINAC ISLAND STATE PARK ROADS AND TRAILS Easily accessible roads and trails adjacent to downtown include strolls down the West and East Bluffs, Huron Road and Arch Rock Road.
