MESSAGE FROM CONSUL GENERAL Dear Visitors, Namaste! This is the official website of the Consulate General of Nepal in Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China. The Consulate General of Nepal in Lhasa is Nepal’s oldest diplomatic mission set up in the seventeenth century. It is also the only foreign diplomatic mission stationed in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China. Nepal had established ‘Naya Residency’ in 1650s and ‘Wakil Karyalaya’ in 1856 in Lhasa to facilitate trade and commerce between Nepal and Tibet. After the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Nepal and the People’s Republic of China in 1955, the Consulate General of Nepal in Lhasa was established on 20 September 1956. Nepal and Tibet Autonomous Region of China share close economic, cultural, social and religious ties. ABOUT NEPAL
Nepal is located in South Asia and shares territorial borders with India and China with an area of 147,181 square kilometers and a population of approximately 30 million. Kathmandu is the nation’s capital and the country’s largest metropolitan city. Previously ruled supposed to be the holiest Hindu temple in the world. Not only for the Hindus but also for the Buddhists Nepal offers a unique -place of pilgrimage as it happens to be the birthplace of Lord Buddha, the apostle of peace and compassion. Nepal is a place of festivals with some part of the kingdom or the other celebrating some festival during everyday of the year. Festivals may be linked with the remembrance of the departed soul, to herald the different seasons, to mark the beginning or end of the agricultural cycle, to mark the national events, or just family celebrations. On a festive day the Nepalese take their ritual bath, worship different gods and goddesses, visit temple, observe fasting and undertake feasting. The most important aspect of Nepali culture is the religious harmony and understanding prevailing among the Hindus and Buddhist. … Mr. Jimson Rumdali Rai Tel.: 0086-891-6813965 Mobile: 0086-18889097730 Spokesperson and Information Officer Nepal's Bilateral Relation Nepal's Diplomatic RelationsCONSULAR SERVICES
