Dynamic mountain bike fit. Mountain biking is an exciting revolution. Bikes, trails and riding styles are improving fast! To get the most joy from your riding, you gotta select the correct bike size then dial it in for your body and riding style.DYNAMIC MTB FIT
The goal is a neutral, comfortable-enough position for making power in the saddle. If seated pedaling is what’s most important to you, this is the way to go. A RideLogic dynamic MTB fit focuses on out-of-the saddle handing. We position your bars relative to your feet. This is critical for technical/expressive riding. MEASURING RAAD ON A BIKE RAAD is Rider Area Angle in Degrees, aka RAD angle. This is the angle of your bike’s RAD relative to level. A higher angle brings your bars closer and higher, which is usually great for technical handling. A lower angle sends your bars farther and lower, which can feel better for seated climbing. XC bikes tend to be about 56 degrees. FORMULAS FOR BUILDING JUMPS You can make a jump tiny or huge by sucking it up or pumping it hard. By the way, speed dramatically increases distance and height. 2x speed = 4x height and distance. Nifty! For the equations and an online calculator, check out hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu. Length, heightand
RIDING THE 2021 SPECIALIZED EPIC EVO PRO I rode the 2021 Epic EVO Pro in size medium. Retail price is $8,250. Salient features: FACT 11m full carbon frame. Not as fancy or light as the S-Works version, but still very fancy and light. This one is a dull, cool purple-ish color. 66.5-degree head angle. DIALING IN YOUR BIKE SETUP STEP 1: MAKE IT RAD Here are two more methods: 1. If you love your current bike, measure its RAD.When you shop for a new bike, try to match that number. 2. Use a simple multiplier. The multipliers below assume average proportions, sweet spot handlebar width, height-appropriate crank length, and average pedal and shoe thickness. While these recommendations are not gospel, they are good starting points for most HOW TO BUILD A PUMP TRACK When you get the hang of your track, you’ll be pulling almost three Gs and leaning 70 degrees. Learn how to build your own pump track. Fill in the spaces. Build rollers or doubles between your turns. Avoid flat spots. Every square inch on your track should tilt upward, downward or sideways. No time for coasting! EXPANDING YOUR QUIVER FROM 2 TO 3 BIKES Collapsing your quiver from 5 to 2 bikes, then back to 3. I’ve consolidated my entire trail fleet – Stumpy 29 hardtail, Camber 29, Stumpy 29, Enduro 29 and Demo 26 — into a Fuse 6Fattie and a Stumpy 6Fattie. Those two bikes cover a lot of ground, so to speak. However, I’m jonesing for a new Enduro! MY SHOULDERS HURT. ARE MY BARS TOO WIDE? 1) Strengthen the weak stabilizing muscles so I can keep my shoulders in a better position. This is the only way I can ride strong, live with less pain and delay shoulder replacement. This is an ongoing project. 2) Change the way I ride so it’s more fun and less painful. 20 VS. 24 VS. 26 FOR BMX RIDING A 20″ will feel very strange. The cockpit will be shorter than you’re used to, and the bars will be much lower. The quickness and stiffness will offend you at first, but this is the ultimate way to build real skills. Even pro cruiser racers train exclusively on 20s.LEE LIKES BIKES

They train for strength and power, and they are up to speed in just a few cranks. Coach Greg Romero measures these guys at 2,000 watts off the line. – BMXers learn to spin. A good BMXer can spin at 180 rpm. Jason Richardson has been measured at 225 rpm — and he can squat more than 500 pounds. That’s a very wide powerband. DO THIS NOW: GREASE YOUR SEATPOST The cure. Right now — everyone — remove your metal seatpost. Wipe it clean. Smear a thin layer of grease on the inserted part. Re-install. Check this once in a while. Do not grease carbon seatposts. I am 6’3″ 190, with pretty long arms and legs, in the past a rode a large chameleon for slalom and that was the perfect size. ARE YOU STRONG ENOUGH FOR A 1×11 DRIVETRAIN? My thinking is that I need to maintain a certain speed to clear logs, bumps, etc. I’m sure you can plug this stuff into your calculations and get better results, but here is what I got: – On 1×11, you were putting out 71.03 w/mph (simply divide wattage by mph).YETI ASR OR 575?
Hi Natalie. What a quandary. Compared with your Fisher hardtail, both are WAY more capable. As you know, the ASR is an XC race weapon — cover ground as efficiently as possible — while the 575 is a trail bike — cover the same or rougher ground with THE STRONGEST SADDLE RAILS? Lee Likes Groceries dot com! Hey Robyn, I got some info from Chris Han at SDG USA. He says: – If you subject them to sufficient stress, all saddle rails — steel, chromoly or titanium — will eventually bend. On very rare occasions, they’ll break. – 8mm steel rails are the strongest. – Chromoly and titanium are almost as strong as steel. LONG OR MEDIUM CAGE REAR DERAILLEUR? Long cage XT. 45T. With 22,32,44 rings and 11-34 cassette, you can use any gear combo. Idiot proof, but lots of chain slap. Med cage XT. 33T. In the small ring you can’t go any smaller than the 23t cog. Which is fine, because by then you should shift AIR PRESSURE FOR 6FATTIE (27.5 PLUS) TIRES Ron! Thanks for writing. A lot of us are still figuring out how to set up and Ride (capital R) the new plus tires. Most gauges suck. Normal high-pressure gauges are super inaccurate at low pressure.LEE LIKES BIKES

A higher angle brings your bars closer and higher, which is usually great for technical handling. A lower angle sends your bars farther and lower, which can feel better for seated climbing. Hi Natalie. What a quandary. Compared with your Fisher hardtail, both are WAY more capable. As you know, the ASR is an XC race weapon — cover ground as efficiently as possible — while the 575 is a trail bike — cover the same or rougher ground with LONG OR MEDIUM CAGE REAR DERAILLEUR?
