KITE FESTIVAL PROGRAM 7:00 – 8:30 pm Indoor Single Line Competition. Friday: 5:00 – 6:15 pm Open Gym for flyers. 6:15 – 7:00 pm Setup & Warmup for Competition. 7:00 – 8:30 pm Indoor Unlimited Competition. The kites used are very lightweight so the flier can keep the kite airborne by moving the feet and maneuvering the kite to keep a little tension onthe lines.

The names will be written on a kite that will be released during the fly. This is expressly for those who have passed in the past year. THURSDAY - WORLD KITE MUSEUM Events. Times are approximate and based on number of entries in each category. 9:30 – ARCHES, TRAINS AND CENTIPEDES – Kites of any shape or structure that is connected by lines to each other.. 9:45 – TRADITIONAL KITES – Kites include eastern or western kites using designs that might have been found before 1950 and/or based on designs indigenous to the region they represent. Awards will be given in four categories: Trains, Ohashi Arches, European Arches and Stunt Kite Stacks. The longest arrangement plus other awards will be given at the judges’ whim. This event was inspired by Mariam Schaffler who made and gave away kid’s kites at every festival she attended. For many people, the first memory of flying a kite is associated with an outing with an older family member, often a grandparent. FRIDAY - WORLD KITE MUSEUM 1:00-3:30 pm Field A2. The Rev Invitational was created to encourage Rev flyers at every level to get involved in a fun, creative, and friendly way. Your factory Rev is your invitation. No homemade, or knock-offs. ABOUT - WORLD KITE MUSEUM History of the World Kite Museum. The World Kite Museum and Hall of Fame has its roots in the local community. In the mid 1980’s a group of kite enthusiasts began to discuss the idea of forming a museum dedicated to kites and kite flyers. The group met informally and developed a plan of action. They researched building opportunitiesEXHIBITS ARCHIVES
The Peninsula Postal Stamp Club of Long Beach, WA is in the process of creating an exhibit of kite stamps from countries around the world. In 2009 the group artistically prepared three 34” X 26” frames of Chinese kite stamps to accompany a new Chinese Kite Celebration at that time. Awards will be given in four categories: Trains, Ohashi Arches, European Arches and Stunt Kite Stacks. The longest arrangement plus other awards will be given at the judges’ whim. For Stunt Stacks, awards will be given for the Most Colorful and the BestRoutine.
SUNDAY - WORLD KITE MUSEUM MEMORIAL FLY. 10:00 am, Field A. Please leave the names of the kite flier you wish to remember at the Operations Tent. A clipboard for that purpose will be there all week. The names will be written on a kite that will be released during the fly. This is expressly for those who have passed in the past year. WINDLESS KITE FESTIVAL Doors open at 8:30 am for warm-up, free fly, and lessons. Saturday at 9:00 am is the famous Alexa King Garbage Bag Kite Workshop. The cost is $5.00 per person. Limited to 25 participants. Performances, competitions, demos, and free fly and lessons continue through 4:00pm.
WEDNESDAY - WORLD KITE MUSEUM 17th ANNUAL FOSTER GRANDPARENT FUN FLY. Glenda Kleppin, James Babst & Brian David, Event Coordinators. Kids Age 3-12. 10:00-11: 00 a.m. Field A. This event was inspired by Mariam Schaffler who made and gave away kid’s kites at every festival she attended. For many people, the first memory of flying a kite is associated with an outing with an older family member, often a grandparent. FRIDAY - WORLD KITE MUSEUM 1:00-3:30 pm Field A2. The Rev Invitational was created to encourage Rev flyers at every level to get involved in a fun, creative, and friendly way. Your factory Rev is your invitation. No homemade, or knock-offs.
