The show is a compilation of how the students at MAST High School dealt with the Pandemic and Covid 19 through Song, Dance, and Spoken Word. Most of my creations consist of 3D textures, sculpting on canvas, geometric shapes, jolted lines and deep rich colors. It is creative, intuitive and reflects my life’s experiences. I believe art is a universal language that commands us OLFATMANESH AND SAMIZAY Woven is a collaboration between Labkhand Olfatmanesh and Gazelle Samizay and is comprised of photographs, collages, and video. The particularities of our experiences as women of Afghan and Iranian heritage fed our collaboration, though Samizay grew up in the US and Olfatmanesh grew up in Iran.LEYS - JCAL
Rejin Leys is a mixed media artist and papermaker based in New York. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States and internationally, and has been reviewed in publications such as Art Nexus, the New York Times and the Miami Herald. The goal of the exhibition seeks to reflect the diversity, talent, and quality of work in the Visual Arts of ARTWORKS | JAMAICA CENTER FOR ARTS AND LEARNING ARTWorks (Artist Residency Training and Workshop Series) is a one-year professional development fellowship program at the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning that serves emerging and under-represented artists in New York City — especially in the borough of Queens. Commencing each October and concluding in September of the following year, ARTWorks offers cultural entrepreneurship training ENCOUNTERS | JAMAICA CENTER FOR ARTS & LEARNING The South Asian Womxn’s Creative Collective (SAWCC) is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to the advancement, visibility, and development of emerging and established South Asian womxn artists and creative professionals by providing a physical and virtual space to profile their creative and intellectual work across disciplines. Each year, JCAL mounts multiple exhibitions that explore issues in contemporary art and culture. JCAL additionally serves local visual artists by providing free/low cost work and exhibit spaces. #JCALAMERICANSTORIES Share your stories through JCAL!
