With drummers often trashing away, arms a go-go, high shutter speeds are your best bet for clean drummer shots. At shutter speeds that are enough to freeze the action on other band members, the swinging arm and speeding drumsticks of percussionists need even faster shutter speeds to prevent blur, not to mention their often bobbing heads. UNDERSTANDING MOIRÉ PATTERNS & COLOR MOIRÉ Color Moiré. Color moiré is one of the most common instances of moiré and occurs when inaccurate color information is recorded. It often looks like a rainbow or a rippling of weird color over fabric. This happens most readily with very fine patterns or fabric with a high level of sheen. Thankfully, color moire it's generally one of the PRIMES VS ZOOMS FOR EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY Cons: For concert photography, the downside to zoom lenses comes in their relatively slow maximum apertures, which clock in at f/2.8 at the fastest for most manufacturers. This limitation puts them two-stops a good f/1.4 prime, which is capable of letting in four times as much light. REVIEW: NIKON 400MM F/2.8 SUPER TELEPHOTO The 400mm f/2.8 VR II is a large lens. It's nearly twice the length of a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. With the suppled lens hood, the length of the lens gains about 50% for quite an imposing combination. It barely matters whether you use this lens on a camera like the Nikon D700 or Nikon D3 – any camera will be dwarfed by the size of this lens. REVIEW: NIKON 85MM F/1.4G AF-S The classic 85mm f/1.4 – a long-admired and respected lens in any mount, and especially renowned as the Nikon AF-D, introduced in 1995. As part of their recent push to update all their fast primes – and introduce a few new ones – Nikon's new 85mm f/1.4G AF-S with Nano Crystal Coating represents a fully modern lens that improves on its predecessor with seemingly none of its weaknesses.__
