IFPA BOARD AND MANAGEMENT The IFPA is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, which is elected by IFPA members at the Association’s AGM. The Board is responsible for developing, monitoring and reviewing the IFPA’s Strategic Plan.. The Board meets seven times a year, members IMPLANT – IRISH FAMILY PLANNING ASSOCIATION The implant is an extremely effective method of contraception. The pregnancy rate associated with the use of Implanon is very low. Less than 1 in 1000 women using it over three years will become pregnant. However some prescribed medicines may make an implant less effective so always inform your doctor if you are being prescribed medicines. SEXUAL HEALTH TRAINING The IFPA offers a comprehensive one-day training on the basics of sexual and reproductive health. This training is recommended for those in the health, education, youth, social or community sectors, or for anyone who wants to know more about sexual health. Fee. The fee for this training is €125 per person. Course attendees can opt topurchase

VASECTOMY – IRISH FAMILY PLANNING ASSOCIATION Vasectomy is a minor surgical procedure that seals the tubes which carry the sperm from your testicles to your penis. The operation is carried out under local anaesthetic and takes about 10 minutes to complete. After the operation you will still be able to ejaculate, but your semen will no longer contain any sperm so you cannot make your TUBAL OCCLUSION (FEMALE STERILISATION) Tubal occlusion. Tubal occlusion, also know as female sterilisation, is a permanent way of preventing pregnancy. It involves having an operation. This procedure is not undertaken in IFPA clinics. You will need to be referred to hospital. Anyone having a sterilisation must see it as a permanent step. Reversal operations are difficult to doand
