The Parks & Recreation Department offers year-round leisure activities that reach out to the community to promote mental stimulations, physical fitness and self-awareness. LAWN WATERING PROGRAM *** JUNE 1 - SEPTEMBER 30 *** To ensure an adequate water supply in the hot summer months and to utilize our water resources in an efficient manner, the City of Huron has established an odd-even lawn watering policy from June 1 st to September 30 th of each calendar year. This is when water demand is the highest – during late springand summer months.

Huron Police Department. The Huron Police Department serves the Huron community with law enforcement protection 24 hours a day. The dispatch center handles all routine business and all emergency 911 calls for the City of Huron and all of Beadle County, as well as 911 services for Hand, Jerauld, and Kingsbury Counties.SOLID WASTE

Inspects all Business within the city requiring grease traps. Performs health inspections of homes and rental property, ifrequested.
ENGINEERING & TRAFFIC Engineering & Traffic. The city's Engineering Office is responsible for planning, designing & directing projects such as roads, bridges, storm sewer, water and sanitary sewer. The Traffic Division is responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the city’s traffic signal system, traffic control signs, and allpavement markings.
WATERFOWL PRODUCTION AREA The Maga Ta-Hohpi Waterfowl Production Area (WPA) encompasses 2,200 acres of land and is located eight miles west of Huron on U.S. Hwy 14. It is managed by the Huron Wetland Management District of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS.). A dedication took place in 1992 by the Sioux Indians who named the WPA "Maga Ta-Hohpi" which means"Duck-Nest".
3RD STREET DAM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT 3 rd Street Dam Proposed Improvements. Stockwell Engineers, Inc. was hired by the City to complete a study on the 3 rd Street Dam and the hazards associated with it.
