Built in 1937 as the Honolulu home of American heiress and philanthropist Doris Duke, Shangri La was inspired by her extensive travels throughout North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. Begun as a Christian holiday, or holy day of obligation, Christmas uses religious symbols and iconography to tell stories of the season. HELP US BRING REGROW TO LIFE The _Regrow_ installation is part of the museum-wide _Joyful Return_ exhibition. Hands-on activities are designed for green thumbs of all types: make planters, cultivate plants, sketch natural forms and more in celebration of Hawai‘i’s unique environment.Guided Activities

RESERVE ADVANCE MUSEUM ADMISSION HoMA is open with limited entry, timed ticketing, and the option to reserve tickets in advance. We've implemented health safety measures including mask requirements and social distancing to keep ourcommunity healthy.
