Revisiting the Caretaker’s Cottage. BUILT IN THE 1930s BY HENRY FORD at his winter retreat near Savannah, this former caretaker’s cottage had been abandoned for decades. Historical Concepts consulted on the restoration of the primitive, 800 square foot cottage for clients who were compelled to save it from demolition and preserve Ford’sHISTORICAL CONCEPTS

This new community offers a mixture of uses arranged in a walkable pattern, modeled on the historic districts and neighborhoods of nearby Pine Mountain, LaGrange, Locust Grove, and Newnan, Georgia.HISTORICAL CONCEPTS
Historical Concepts provided multiple prototype plans for the homes in Wilson Village that complemented the character of the commercial and civic buildings they had designed. FOREST HILLS, NEW YORK Destination: Forest Hills, Queens, New York. Conceived as a garden city, Forest Hills was created to preserve the idea of “country living in the city” with its Tudor-style buildings and park-like settings in stark contrast to living in NYC’s cramped flats. A few share their impressions of the area, reflecting on how it resonateswith them.

Unfolding across the site, the exterior has an air of timeless authenticity juxtaposed with interiors that are rooted in the twenty-first century. A PORTE-COCHÈRE connects Serenity’s main house with its carriage house, designed in the form of an equestrian stable. Traditional carriage tracks extend through the latticed structure and over a footbridge to a private island.
