HINDUISM 101: WOMEN AND HINDUISM Hinduism 101: Women and Hinduism. One of the most profound attributes of Hinduism is the recognition and worship of God as feminine. Many Hindus revere God’s energy, or Shakti, through its personification in a Goddess. 12 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HINDUISM 1) Hinduism is at least 5000 years old. Hinduism is one of a few ancient religions to survive into modern times. The collection of traditions that compose modern-day Hinduism have developed over at least the past 5000 years, beginning in the Indus Valley region (in the nations of modern India and Pakistan), in what was the largest civilization of the ancient world. HAF DHARMA ADOCATES TRAINING Samir Kalra, Esq., HAF Managing Director, based in the Bay Area, CA, holds a JD from Santa Clara University School of Law. Mr. Kalra leads the Foundation’s human rights and public policy advocacy efforts and has led human rights fact finding missions, served as a panelist at multiple Congressional briefings, and authored formal testimony for Congressional Hearings on human rights, foreign THE PURPOSE OF THE BINDI Aside from the beautiful saris and gold jewelry that characterize much of the Indian subcontinent’s culture, one of the most internationally-known body adornments worn by Hindu and Jain women is the bindi, a red dot applied between the eyebrows on the forehead. The term “bindi” stems from the Sanskrit word bindu, which means dropor particle.
US POLICE MUST ELIMINATE SYSTEMIC RACISM, EXCESSIVE USE OF US police must acknowledge and eliminate systemic racism, excessive use of force in their ranks.
