Welcome to Hike Bike Travel. Founded in 2009, HikeBikeTravel is your destination for information and stories on travel, adventure and the outdoors. From tried and true travel tips, to the latest and most innovative products on the market, to founder Leigh McAdam’s most recent adventures, HikeBikeTravel is here to inspire you and challengeyou
RASPBERRY RIDGE HIKE IN ALBERTA Raspberry Ridge is a 10 km round-trip hike with 653 m of elevation gain – if you take the steep shortcut up and down – which is what we did. There is the option to moderate the intensity of the climb via switchbacks – and that would make it an 11.8 km hike. BIKING THE HIGHEST PAVED ROAD IN CANADA Our plan for the day was to cycle to Highwood Pass on the highest public road in Canada. We chose to do the more gradual route from the entrance closest to the community of Longview, accessible via a 1.5 hour drive from Calgary. If you’re not a cyclist put the drive over Highwood Pass on your must-do list. The best way to do the bike rideup
COWICHAN VALLEY FROM VICTORIA VIA BIKE Cowichan Valley – Biking highlights. 6 day biking itinerary from Victoria. Detailed itinerary for the bike ride to Cowichan Bay. Where to stay in Victoria. Day 2 – Victoria – sightseeing and relaxation. Day 3 – Cycle from Victoria to Brentwood Bay. Day 4: Ferry from Brentwood Bay to Mill Bay. DRIVING ACROSS CANADA: 40 PLACES YOU SHOULDN'T MISS BEST CANOE ROUTES IN BRITISH COLUMBIA British Columbia is home to some amazing canoe circuits; here are just three of my favourite canoe routes so far. Bowron Lakes Canoe Circuit – 105.6 km paddling, 10.8 km portaging. Powell Forest Canoe Route – 55 km paddling, 8 km portaging. Sayward Forest Canoe Circuit – 39.3 km paddling, 8.1 km portaging. More BC canoe adventures.MARVEL LAKE

Considering the length of the Marvel Lake – Wonder Pass trail, the vertical gain/loss is a relatively easy 627 m (2,057 feet) from Wonder Pass to the Mount Shark Trailhead. From the Naiset Huts near Assiniboine Lodge to Wonder Pass there is a 220 m (722 feet) of gain or loss depending on whatdirection
28 WEIRD & INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT WINNIPEG There is measurable sunshine on an average of 318 days of the year. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Winnipeg was 42.2°C (108°F) on July 11, 1936. Winnipeg has been called the Windy City but that is incorrect. It is the 12th windiest city in Canada. CYCLING THE BANFF LEGACY TRAIL FROM Its 26 kilometres long one way and a comfortable three metres wide. It takes you from the outskirts of Canmore into Banff, along Vermilion Lakes Drive all the way to the junction with Highway 1A. Although a good part of it is dedicated bike trail, there are sections throughthe
25 FUN, WEIRD AND INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT SASKATOON There are more Tim Horton’s per capita than in any other city in Canada. Forget hamburgers. BEGINNER BACKPACKING TRIPS IN THE CANADIAN ROCKIES One of the great pleasures in my life is camping and backpacking in the Canadian Rockies. With years of experience under my belt, I don’t give much thought to the difficulty of a trip unless it’s a real out there wilderness experience. But I know that there are lots of wannabe backpackers that are nervous about taking their first steps and spending a night in a tent, many kilometres from a RASPBERRY RIDGE HIKE IN ALBERTA Raspberry Ridge is a 10 km round-trip hike with 653 m of elevation gain – if you take the steep shortcut up and down – which is what we did. EARLY SEASON MOUNTAIN HIKES NEAR CALGARY There are two hikes you can do from the Heart Creek parking lot. The easy hike follows Heart Creek to a waterfall, a distance of about three kilometres. No icers needed but enough snow that the dogs could cool down. It's a great spring hike - 9 km return with 653 m of climbing. At one point felt like we had the whole ridge to ourselves. Worst part was road work on Hwy 22 with about 30 min of delays. . . . #hikingtrail #hikingadventure #explorealberta #viewalberta #choosemountains #goodtimesoutside #exploremore #canadagram #optoutdoors #outdoorlife #outdoorenthusiast #bestplacestogo #kananaskis #freshairandfreedom #natureisawesome #naturalbeauty #explorecanada #hikingwithdogs #raspberryridge It was a great day to do the Raspberry Ridge Lookout hike accessed off Highway 940 near Highwood Junction. Couldn't have asked for a better night yesterday to do a post dinner bike ride to Sheep River Falls wearing my light as a feather but super warm down insulated Cerium LT Hoody. Using ebikes a few of us ladies biked 18 km on a car-free road past more wildlife than I have ever seen in Alberta. (Don't forget the bear spray!!) By the time we had climbed to the falls there was snow on the ground and it was cold. I added a bottom layer and a hat for the ride back but stayed toasty on top. Great clouds, company and scenery made for a memorable evening. Road to the falls opens to cars May 15th. . . . . #arcteryxcalgary #gifted #bikeride #spring #kananaskis #exploremore #GetOutdoors #optoutside #neverstopexploring #naturefix #naturalbeauty #natureisawesome #anotherbestday #bestplacestogo #eveningvibes #sheeprivervalley #waterfalls #itscoldoutside #thisismay Couldn't have asked for a better night yesterday to do a post dinner bike ride to Sheep River Falls wearing my light as a feather but super warm down insulated Cerium LT Hoody.
