She is originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and graduated from Northern Michigan University, earning a degree in writing/journalism. HUMANE EDUCATION CAMPS Humane Education Camps With the information collected from surveys and guidance from the CDC, we have made the following changes to our summer programs in regards to Covid-19 and keeping our entire community healthy: We have reduced our camp hours to mornings only. Our new camp hours will be 8:30am-12:00pm. We have added new afternoon OUR VET BILLS ARE IN FULL BLOOM! Our vet bills are in full bloom! It's only because of your support that we can continue to provide high-quality, individualized care to our rescued residents. Our therapeutic programs provide healing and hope for hundreds of individuals and families each year. Board Secretary. Laura is Partner at the law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich, practicing intellectual property law. Laura has volunteered at Heartland since 2014 in different capacities, including animal care, collecting gala auction donations, providing pro bono legal services, and chicken-sitting at her home. THEO - HEARTLAND FARM SANCTUARY Theo came to Heartland after being rescued at Pioneer Days Festival in February 2020. Pioneer Days is an annual event in northern Wisconsin, and part of this event is a “Free Chicken Fly” which consists of throwing many chickens, one or two at a time, up in the air from aroof.
ORION - HEARTLAND FARM SANCTUARY Orion arrived at Heartland at 14 years old after his sister passed away and his owners were worried about him being alone. Llamas are naturally herd animals, and are the happiest when surrounded by other llamas. This was the first time we'd introduced a new member to our current "herd" (of 2!) so we weren't sure how it was going to workout.
OPAL - HEARTLAND FARM SANCTUARY Opal came to Heartland after being rescued from a hoarding case, where the animals were neglected and did not receive any veterinary care. Opal was pregnant and malnourished when Heartland rescued her and sadly lost her baby not long after arriving at our sanctuary. Today, Opal is a happy, healthy goat. A couple of years ago, Opal broke offone
MAXWELL - HEARTLAND FARM SANCTUARY Maxwell was taken to the UW Vet Hospital, where he received round-the-clock supportive care, anti-ulcer medicine (ulcers are fairly common in piglets) and monitored for a fever or signs of infection. Thankfully, Maxwell’s health improved and he returned to the sanctuary just a few days later. We’ve said it before – yearsago when our
COOKIE - HEARTLAND FARM SANCTUARY Cookie and her best friend, Joan the sheep, originally lived in a less-than-wonderful home. Joan was no longer wanted after her breeding days were over, and Cookie had substantial underlying dental issues that caused her to become severely underweight.MS. EVERDEEN
Ms. Everdeen, Annie, and Jemma were rescued from a turkey farm by a Heartland supporter just before Thanksgiving in 2014. Shortly after they arrived at our sanctuary, they were able to partake in our annual Thanksgiving for the Turkeys event, and life has been sweet for thistrio ever since.

VISIT THE SANCTUARY! Heartland Farm Sanctuary’s public tour season has begun! Tours are 60 minutes long and are for ages 5 and up. The fee is $12/person and all guests (including kids 5 and older) must be registered one at atime.
For the safety of our staff, volunteers and the community, facemasks are required for all tour guests. Total capacity for public tours is 12 people, so please note that you will most likely be touring the sanctuary with people outside of your household.
