Your host, Matt Hucke, has explored and photographed over 1,200 cemeteries, graveyards, and mausolea CEMETERIES BETH-EL / RIDGELAWN CEMETERIES These small Jewish cemeteries are just north of Montrose Cemetery on Pulaski. There are two main sections, separated by a fence. The gate in this fence is too narrow to drive through. ROSEHILL CEMETERY AND MAUSOLEUM: E.A. FISHER This underground tomb, belonging to "E.A. Fisher" and apparently constructed in 1902, has been sealed - the stairs down to the entrance filled in with dirt, and the windows on top plugged with cement.VALHALLA CEMETERY

OAK WOODS CEMETERY: CAMP DOUGLAS CONFEDERATE MOUND One section of Oak Woods is known as the "Confederate Mound". A 46-foot monument stands alone, surrounded by cannon and cannonballs. Buried around it are an estimated six thousand soldiers and sailors ofthe Confederacy.

OAK WOODS CEMETERY: CAMP DOUGLAS CONFEDERATE MOUND One section of Oak Woods is known as the "Confederate Mound". A 46-foot monument stands alone, surrounded by cannon and cannonballs. Buried around it are an estimated six thousand soldiers and sailors ofthe Confederacy.

GRACELAND CEMETERY: POTTER AND BERTHA PALMER Potter Palmer (1826-1902) Bertha Honoré Palmer (1850-1918). Erected 1921. Potter Palmer was responsible for much of the development of State Street. He operated an extremely successful dry-goods store in partnership with Marshall Field and Levi Leiter. In the 1860s he withdrew from this business (leasing the building to Field and Leiter for $50,000 a year).
