WELCOME
Welcome to Gordon College! One of the nation's premier Christian colleges, Gordon better prepares students for a greater purpose by combining exceptional education and innovative opportunities with an informed Christian faith. Our 480-acre campus is located just 25 miles north of Boston and 3 miles from the ocean, and includes four ponds and many wooded trails. In this unparalleled location, Gordon students have access to a wealth of resources and the support of an intentional community as they discover and connect their God-given gifts and personal passions into a meaningful vocation with lasting impact. Before we get started, let me explain the many ways you can explore our beautiful campus: - Click on the front facing arrow to start walking around campus - Jump ahead by clicking on the Next Stop button - If you're looking for a particular location, you can select from the tour stop list or click directly on the map - Remember you can explore any particular location in more detail by clicking on the 360-degree panorama, photo, or video icons.*
FROST HALL
Frost Hall (sometimes referred to as the "castle") is the historic heart of the campus. It was the former home of the Prince family, who sold their estate to Gordon in 1947, at a pivotal point in the institution's growth. Decades earlier, at a time when the church was criticized for not engaging in social trials and struggles, Adoniram Judson (A. J.) Gordon whose statue sits in Frost Hall swam against the tide. Recognizing the great need for Christian workers around the globe, he established the Boston Missionary Training Institute in 1889, where he trained men and women for missionary service in the Congo. Nearly 130 years later, that humble Boston-based institution has grown into this 480-acre campus, home to more than 1,900 undergraduate and graduate students from over 40 denominations, while remaining rooted in the original vision of A. J. Gordon. Our mission is to graduate men and women distinguished by intellectual maturity and Christian character, committed to lives of service and prepared for leadershipworldwide.
*
KEN OLSEN SCIENCE CENTER The Ken Olsen Science Center is an 80,000-square-foot science and technology center but it's not just for STEM students. In this space, the first pillar of our mission, intellectual maturity, is brought tolife.
Most students attend classes or campus events here like the job and graduate school fair, undergraduate research conferences, or lectures by prominent speakers. In recent years, Gordon has welcomed EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, world-renowned sociologist Peter Berger, and New Testament scholar N. T. Wright. The Ken Olsen Science Center's new lab wing includes an anatomy and physiology lab for students' one of the few you'll find at undergraduate liberal arts colleges around the world. Gordon has been on the leading edge of liberal arts education for decades, and our commitment to scientific research at the undergraduate level is justone example.

THE QUAD
Located in the center of Gordon's campus, the quad hosts communal events, such as soccer games, the campus block party, and movie nights. It also brings together alumni for the annual Homecoming festivities. Rumor has it that one century ago, Teddy Roosevelt played polo on what is now the campus quad.*
PHILLIPS MUSIC CENTER Designed by William L. Rawn, the world-renowned architect behind the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood, the Phillips Recital Hall is a model of optimal acoustic performance and architectural creativity. The back of this building is shaped like a grand piano, and the irregular widths of the glass in the Recital Hall reflect time and measured tempo in music. Named for Tom Phillips—the former CEO of Raytheon, Gordon's longest serving trustee, and the man who led Chuck Colson to Christ—the Center isn't just for music and music education majors; anyone is welcome to audition for musical ensembles. Set against a windowed view of Coy Pond and the Gordon Woods, concerts and performances in the Recital Hall delight the Gordon community throughout the year.*
CHASE HALL
Your residence hall (we don't call them dorms at Gordon!) is more than just a place to sleep. It's a place you'll come to call home, a place where lasting friendship are formed. Here, the second pillar of our mission, Christian character, is honed as students immerse in transformative communities that help them develop spiritually, emotionally, academically, vocationally and socially during theircollege years.
Chase Hall, one of our newer residence halls, has a great location overlooking the campus quad. It's designed for energy efficiency in accordance with Gordon's broader aim to promote Creation care by using renewable energy and resources on campus. Chase has suite-style rooms, three classrooms, a kitchen on each floor, and lounges where residents of each floor gather for events. Approximately 90% of our students live in college housing, and first-year students are integrated into residence halls with sophomores, juniors and seniors, to better foster community. Each hall's full-time resident director helps to make sure students arethriving.

LANE STUDENT CENTER
Lane Student Center is a haven for students. Here, they share meals with their friends in the Tupper Dining Hall, chat with their professors over coffee in Chester's Place, meet up with their mentors, or grab lunch with guest speakers after Chapel. The newly renovated Cafe offers salads, made-from-scratch soups, homemade entrees, pizza, sandwiches, gluten-free entrees and baked goods. Stop by our Global Station and sample food from around the world or design your own stir fry on our new Mongolian Grill. We are committed to sustainability and all of our food is made from scratch using a "Farm to Fork" program of fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Gillies Cafe is Gordon's hub for grilled-to-order favorites, regioanl specialities and an anthentic taqueria as well as its late night grille-style menu. On a special diet, Gordon offers vegetarian, vegan and "Pure" Gluten free options along with access to our dining services staff for those withallergies.
Upstairs, you'll find the Office of Student Life, which coordinates residence life, athletics, student services and the first-year experience. Gordon's first-year experience program (or FYE, as we call it) has been named one of the 10 best in the country by U.S. News and World Report. From day one of Orientation, their team helps students connect their faith, education and vocation. Lane Student Center houses the College's post office, bookstore, health center. It's also the headquarters for some of our 120-plus student-led clubs and councils, such as the Campus Events Council, The Tartan newspaper and student government offices.*

A.J. GORDON MEMORIAL CHAPEL Gordon's robust Chapel and Convocation program acquaints our multidenominational student body with a wide range of Christian worship while offering opportunities for students to deepen and enrich their faith. During Chapel services, our community makes up the largest gathering of evangelical Christians north of Boston. In addition to Chapel and Convocation, Gordon facilitates spiritual formation through more than 60 small groups and spiritual formation groups, close connections with faculty, shared meals and communal worship. On Sunday nights, students gather here for Catacombs—a late night worship service named for the ancient underground cemeteries where Christians safely celebrated the Eucharist during times ofpersecution.
The Chapel also is a place of relationship building through social events. The student-led Campus Events Council hosts the Gordon Globes (Gordon's version of the star-studded Hollywood film awards), Golden Goose (a talent show competition between classes), and a wide range of concerts and other events.*
TAVILLA HALL
Located on the rocky rise near the main entrance, Tavilla Hall is an apartment building that overlooks the beautiful Coy Pond and the surrounding Gordon Woods. It houses juniors and seniors in four, five, six, and seven-person apartments—just one of the three styles of residence halls at Gordon. The other styles are traditional (a hallway of about 20 students who share a common bathroom), and suites (two double or triple rooms joined by a bathroom). All of our residence halls have free laundry. Gordon's location near Boston and the ocean means that local adventures with roommates and friends are part of the experience. You'll likely find surfboards, stand-up paddleboards and beach chairs stashed in your residence hall lobby. In our own Gordon Woods, you'll find miles of trails for hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Boston also offers a wealth of opportunities—from fun day trips (like Red Sox games or Boston Symphony Orchestra concerts) to significant internships, research opportunities and networking withprominent leaders.
*
NYLAND/FULTON HALL
Fulton Hall is the largest residence hall on campus, and it has a personality to match. Located between Nyland and Tavilla (click back one stop to see Tavilla Hall), the suite-style building is a magnet for intentional community—Frisbee on the front lawn, ping pong in the lounge, and even off-campus hall events. The common kitchen serves as an area where students can enjoy one another's company while baking cookies or making a meal with friends. Next door, Nyland Hall is a traditional residence hall that includes rooms for two, three and four students. In Nyland, first-year students and sophomores outnumber juniors and seniors. Each floor has a laundry room, kitchen and common lounge space for the residents to enjoy. Nyland is often described as a home away from home, where everyone has a place in the community and all are challenged to grow in faith andmaturity.

BENNETT ATHLETIC CENTER The Bennett Athletic Center is home to a 25-yard swimming pool, fitness center, rock gym, basketball courts, racquetball courts, an indoor track, a dance studio, and a sauna. Gym membership is complimentary for all Gordon College students. Recreation and athletics are an important part of student life. Nearly a quarter of our students participate in our 18 varsity sports, and more than half of our students are involved in REC-IM, which is our on-campus intramural league that includes sports like Ultimate Frisbee and innertube water polo. As a Division III school, Gordon values the scholar-athlete, balancing strong academics in a highly competitive, championship-driven team environment. The Bennett Center offers group exercise classes including yoga, Pilates and Zumba, as well as personal training. Gordon Athletics offices and Harmeling Physical Therapy are located here, too.*
BRIGHAM ATHLETIC COMPLEX The Brigham Athletic Complex brings the campus together to cheer on our Fighting Scots. Gordon's diverse athletic program promotes intellectual maturity, Christian character and program excellence. Brigham features a brand new synthetic turf field that is the home of the lacrosse, field hockey and soccer programs, as well as six tennis courts. Surrounding the field is a newly resurfaced eight lane, all-weather track complete with spaces and facilities needed to host an official NCAA track and field meet.*
MACDONALD HALL
Gordon is committed to providing quality education at an affordable price and that's where Student Financial Services comes in. On the second floor of MacDonald Hall, our financial aid counselors provide students with personalized assistance. In fact, 99% of Gordon students receive some form of financial aid, so hardly anyone pays the stickerprice.
As an added benefit, financial aid and scholarships apply to our dozens of study abroad programs so it's no surprise that over 40% of Gordon students study abroad, which is one of the highest percentages among all Christian institutions. Our Global Education Office is in MacDonald Hall, too. That office helps students connect with important opportunities on six continents underscoring the fourth pillar of our mission: leadership worldwide.*
CAREER AND CONNECTION INSTITUTE The Career and Connection Institute launched in 2018 to bridge the liberal arts to the world of work through spirtual formation, intentional career development, diverse work experiences and Christian community. CCI is guided by a single centering principle--the Hebrew noun "avodah," which encompasses the concepts of work, worship and service. The institute facilitates connections with mentors, alumni, internship and practicum hosts, employers, industry groups, graduate programs and fellowships to better prepare students for life after Gordon. A Gordon education pays off; in fact, a recent survey reports that 96% of graduates are employed or in grad school within one yearof graduation.
*
JENKS LIBRARY
Jenks is more than a library it's a place of development and growth across the spectrum. Here, you'll find our Academic Success Center, Counseling Center and the Center for Technology Services. In addition to Gordon's more than 370,000 resources, our partnerships with area libraries provide access to an even larger network of library information resources, one of the most developed inter-library consortiums in the world. That's one of the many benefits of studying near Boston, the global capital of higher education. In addition to the many classes students will have in Jenks, students study in the leather couches in front of the fireplace and in an atrium upstairs, as well as in quiet study spots throughout the building. They grab coffee with professors in Bistro 255 in between classes. Our 11-to-1 student to faculty ratio means small class sizes and lots of individual attention from professors. Our faculty members are engaged and accomplished scholars who are committed to students and genuinely care about their lives. They collaborate with students on publishable research, and cheer them on at their games andperformances.
*
BARRINGTON CENTER FOR THE ARTS In the tradition of great liberal arts colleges, Gordon deeply values the sciences and the arts—and perhaps more importantly, the connections that form between the different disciplines. The Barrington Center for the Arts is home to lab space and studios for drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, woodwork, film editing, and design. It's also equipped with a cinema room for student film premieres and a black box theatre that can be rearranged to accommodate a wide variety of sets. Barrington's modern, spacious art gallery features regular exhibitions by professional, local and student artists. As a bonus, Gordon students have free admission to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and discounted access to other world-class museums in the area including the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts.*
GORDON WOODS
Right in Gordon's backyard, you'll find hundreds of acres of wooded trails and ponds. Students are out here all year long—running, biking, walking, snowshoeing, paddle boarding, swimming and cross-country skiing. The Gordon Woods is also home to high- and low-ropes challenge courses run by our La Vida Center for Outdoor Education and Leadership. La Vida was one of the first of its kind in the country, and its plethora of adventure programs start here and extend into the Adirondack Mountains of New York and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. From custom challenge courses and rock climbing at Gordon to multi-day backpacking, canoeing or kayaking expeditions, La Vida fosters character and leadership development. While we hope this tour has helped you imagine life as a Gordon student, we would love to welcome you to campus and show you around in person. To learn more about scheduling your visit or becoming a part of Gordon's community, contact Admissions at admissions@gordon.edu or visit www.gordon.edu. We look forward tohearing from you!
