He was a theologian without peer within United Methodism. He was also highly respected in Protestant, Catholic, and orthodox communions as well as numerous evangelical denominations. JOHN WESLEY’S LETTER TO A ROMAN 1. You have heard ten thousand stories of us who are commonly called Protestants, of which, if you believe only one in a thousand, you must think very hardly of us. But this is quite contrary to our Lords rule, “Judge not, that ye be not judged”; and has many ill consequences, particularly this — it inclines us to think as hardly of you.GOOD NEWS MAGAZINE

TURMOIL IN NEW JERSEY The bishops have gone power mad and are trying to purge traditionalists out of the churches. The only solution is for the churches to revolt from this heavy handed abuse of power and to both refuse to sit and pay new pastors and to pay any apportionments. THE GLOBAL METHODIST CHURCH By Walter Fenton – The Transitional Leadership Council, a 17 member team of theologically conservative Methodists, has released information on the Global Methodist Church. The council said the new church will officially come into existence when a United Methodist General Conference adopts the implementing legislation for the Protocol for Reconciliation and Grace through Separation. (Thank you, sir!) Sadly, his post (and its content/teaching) is a painful reminder of how seldom we are given this kind of careful exposition and application of scripture by the pastors and bishops of our church. THOMAS ODEN’S REMARKABLE REVERSAL By James V. Heidinger II-We can learn much from the remarkable theological journey of the late Professor Thomas C. Oden, who taught for more than 30 years as a professor of theology and ethics at the theology school at Drew University. JOHN WESLEY’S LETTER TO A ROMAN DUBLIN July 18, 1749. 1. One week ago, the Wesleyan Covenant Association Global Legislative Assembly met in Montgomery, Alabama. About 230 delegates representing WCA chapters in the U.S. met in person, while an additional 25 delegates from the U.S. and other parts of the world met with us SEPARATION AND THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH There is resistance and reluctance to support the idea of separation in The United Methodist Church. That is as it should be. Separation in the church, like divorce in a marriage, should be a last resort, not entered into lightly or without pursuing all other options. WHAT IS A TRADITIONAL METHODIST? Traditionalist United Methodists have wrestled for several years with the question of what to call ourselves and what label to use. The need for a label became acute in 2016 when the General Conference authorized a commission to look at possible strategies to address the growing division within United Methodism. GLOBAL METHODIST CHURCH IN FORMATION By Walter Fenton – The Transitional Leadership Council, a 17 member team of theologically conservative Methodists, has released information on the formation of the new Global Methodist Church.ONE HAS TO WONDER
I believe there is a lot more traditional Churches and lay people that over the years have kept their heads down so not to rock the boat and put up with a lot so that they could do their ministry but are just waiting for the Protocol to pass so they can leave UMC and the Burdonput on them.
WHAT'S IN THE ONE CHURCH PLAN? By Thomas Lambrecht – In light of the delay in releasing the report of the Commission on a Way Forward, and in the interest of helping facilitate discussion and consideration of the three main proposals that will be voted upon at the special General Conference next February, I will be sharing the elements involved in each plan over the next three weeks that can be made public. YOUR LIFE, GOD'S GIFT This is some of the best writing I have read on the internet and is refreshing to see, not only for its quality but also for its content. I especially appreciate the point on how important it is to be part of God’s story as opposed to merely focusing on our own stories. JOHN WESLEY’S LETTER TO A ROMAN DUBLIN July 18, 1749. 1. THE SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE OF FASTING By Steve Johnson According to The United Methodist Church website: “Fasting has been a part of Methodism from its earliest days.” Yet most United Methodists are as unfamiliar with the history and practice of fasting as the rest of Christians in America. In light of this, let’s look at: the Biblical basis for, the Methodist history of, and practical tips for observing the Spiritual WHY I AM A UNITED METHODIST By Blossom Matthews It was my first theology class, and I was a bit surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Having been raised non-denominational, dipping my toes in the waters of the religion department at a Southern Baptist university made for a life-changing experience. I was vaguely familiar with Calvinism and knew it wasn’t for me, but as we studied Calvinism, we also studied its GLOBAL UNITED METHODIST MEMBERSHIP TOPS 12 MILLION By Barbara Dunlap-Berg While the United Methodist Church’s U.S. membership has continued to shrink, its growth elsewhere in the world has put it over the 12 million-member mark for the first time, newly released statistics show. The church’s membership in Africa, Europe, and Asia grew from 3.5 million to 4.4 million in the five years ending in 2009, according to the United MethodistGOOD NEWS MAGAZINE
