On closer examination it was found to have a cavity at one end and tucked into this was a male and a female Columbus Crab,Planes minutus.
WORMS (POLYCHAETA): BRITISH MARINE LIFE STUDY SOCIETY LINK The green 'blobs' of Sussex indeed seem to be the same as the ones found in the Netherlands. The Dutch egg-capsules are considered to be the egg-capsules from the Paddleworm Phyllodoce maculata (=Anaitides maculata). This is the opinion of several researchers, who work a lot with worms in general. FLIES OF THE LOWER ADUR VALLEY INCLUDING SHOREHAM-BY-SEA 11 September 2005. The upper meadows of Mill Hill were full of hundreds of Crane-flies, Tipula but not a single butterfly was noted in a fleeting passage visit.. The Crane-flies were identified by Dr Dave Skingsley (Staffordshire Universities) from the photograph as Tipula sp., possibly Tipula paludosa or Tipula olaracea or as I the wings cannot be seen clearly it might be Tipula vernalis. Common Whelks, Buccinum undatum, spawn in winter, and were very active.There seemed to be large numbers everywhere, sometimes twelve or more in an area 30 cm square. Hawkbits and Mouse-eared Hawkweeds were in flower on the southern and northern banks of the Slonk Hill Cutting respectively. 15 December 2011 An interesting large piece of wood was washed up on the strandline at after storms on low tide at Sennen Cove, Cornwall: it was completely covered in small to medium sized Goose Barnacles, Lepas anatifera.. On closer examination it was found to have a cavity at one end and tucked into this was a male and a female Columbus Crab,Planes minutus.

The Dutch egg-capsules are considered to be the egg-capsules from the Paddleworm Phyllodoce maculata (=Anaitides maculata). This is the opinion of several researchers, who work a lot with worms in general. FLIES OF THE LOWER ADUR VALLEY INCLUDING SHOREHAM-BY-SEA The large* brown flying insect in the photograph above was the second time this unidentified and ominous-looking arthropod has been seen in this area. I associated this insect with horse's dung. (* Britain's largest fly.) I had an the impression that it was about to ambush a butterfly, not the Common Blues present but a Meadow Brown. 15 December 2011 An interesting large piece of wood was washed up on the strandline at after storms on low tide at Sennen Cove, Cornwall: it was completely covered in small to medium sized Goose Barnacles, Lepas anatifera.. On closer examination it was found to have a cavity at one end and tucked into this was a male and a female Columbus Crab,Planes minutus.

FLIES OF THE LOWER ADUR VALLEY INCLUDING SHOREHAM-BY-SEA 11 September 2005. The upper meadows of Mill Hill were full of hundreds of Crane-flies, Tipula but not a single butterfly was noted in a fleeting passage visit.. The Crane-flies were identified by Dr Dave Skingsley (Staffordshire Universities) from the photograph as Tipula sp., possibly Tipula paludosa or Tipula olaracea or as I the wings cannot be seen clearly it might be Tipula vernalis. WORMS (POLYCHAETA): BRITISH MARINE LIFE STUDY SOCIETY LINK The green 'blobs' of Sussex indeed seem to be the same as the ones found in the Netherlands. The Dutch egg-capsules are considered to be the egg-capsules from the Paddleworm Phyllodoce maculata (=Anaitides maculata). Hawkbits and Mouse-eared Hawkweeds were in flower on the southern and northern banks of the Slonk Hill Cutting respectively. 15 December 2011 An interesting large piece of wood was washed up on the strandline at after storms on low tide at Sennen Cove, Cornwall: it was completely covered in small to medium sized Goose Barnacles, Lepas anatifera.. On closer examination it was found to have a cavity at one end and tucked into this was a male and a female Columbus Crab,Planes minutus.

WORLD OCEANS DAY
WORLD OCEANS DAY WAS FIRST DECLARED AS 8TH JUNE AT THE EARTH SUMMIT IN RIO DE JANEIRO IN 1992. EVENTS OCCURRED ALL AROUND THE WORLD ON AND AROUND THIS DAY. FOR TECHNICAL AND RESOURCE REASONS, ADUR WORLD OCEANS DAY WILL NOT TAKE PLACE IN 2017 Adur was one of the UK leaders in presenting the seventeenth environmental exhibition of World Oceans Day on Coronation Green , Shoreham-by-Sea . The British Marine Life Study Society presented the usual exhibition of the seashore aquarium and the lobsters and crabs . The Friends of Shoreham Beach (FOSB) took an active role with their display of the wonders of Shoreham Beach . Wildlife writer Steve Savage presented the Man and the Sea exhibition with a video microscope. Exhibitors were available to find the time to answer questions about marine life. World of Widewater exhibited a display and information about the brackish water lagoon and local naturereserve.
Other participants included Southwick Camera Club with an exhibition of seascapes and marine life.
